The best I have ever seen on gps with this sled is 107 this year. I havent changed anything other than a new belf. My other Apexes would easily do in the low to high 110 plus on gps. I had the dealer check out the adjustment in the exup. I have a Ulmers clutch kit and the same kit worked in my 09 ltx. Next step I'm gonna check the exup myself and install a set of HC 2 speeds I have. I have beaten Cat turbos but always ran outta room before we got much above hundred. Any other ideas? My LTX would do 118 on gps in a half mile run.

Not much will ever be as fast as stock clutching. Try your stock clutching and see what yout topend would be. Just my .02

You have me beat by about 5 MPH........I have the same sled all stock. My buddy's XTX hasn't broken the 100 MPH mark ever. Disappointing!! Wish I had my 2009 back...

A tight track will kill your top end to. That sled should run mid to high teens on ideal conditions.

I would love some suggestions on this as well, my 07gt was quicker, as is my buds 07. It was faster when new, I have no mods added some more transfer this helped, run woodies dual carbides(I hear they are slower), 100mph maybe a bit more in good conditions(on speedo).

Not sure why but I have seen slower ones new or old. Here is a vid of my 11 shortie all stock and the lake was very soft. Brought it up to 180kph then cruised at 160 for a bit. GPS showed 109 as fastest speed. I have seen 195 on the speedo once LOL.....

With the newer Apex what are people finding to be the sweet spot for track tension? had dealer install duponts and I'm now thinking the track might be a little tight from how I had my other Apexes. If i remember right with sled jacked up there was very little sag in the track untouched. I may loosen it some and see how that does btw what size is the rear axle nut to loosen to do the track adjustment. hope i have a socket that big to fit it.

A 1 1/4 fits the big end. The small end is 27mm I think.

I.ve got a good 1inch sag on my track. I,ve had mine north of 185kph several times, but mine is an XTX. There,s a reason they have the exhaust valve, why disconnect it, it,s a proven performance gain. That,s just like saying disconnect your power valves on your srx they don,t really do anything

Its not the same as a SRX, similar but not he same. It only helps the sled on low end to mid range power not top end...and you can clutch the sled to work thru that... not saying it should be done only suggesting to try.
They have this same system on bikes and there are many guys that have remove them and made huge gains...just saying.
Mine is removed off my Stratoliner Deluxe in order to make may after market pipes work and I will never go back.
On that note... All of my Apexs still run the PVS... just a note to think about when comparing older Apex top speed to Newer. If that PVS is not set correctly and it partially closed at WOT you will be slow.

Is it possible that the clutch springs could be weak? I am not interested in aftermarket stuff or gearing, it should'nt need it.

As per yammy service manual for 2011 apex - it calls for a standard drive track deflection of between 1.18 to 1.38 in. and that's with a spring scale pulling down on the center of the track with a force of 22lbs.

Not sure where guys get this - tight is fast, I speed run a lot, and set my sleds up for it. My stock apex with air box, power commander and clutching runs 120+ on radar and gps with a tight track(109 in 1320 at NBSSR), my turbo runs high 130-140 with track banjo tight (136.9 at nbssr)- you don't want that think flopping around!!
