For 2011 there was not an APEX ER, There was the regular Apex, which had the mono shock II rear suspension with the 46mm KYB shock. There was the Apex SE that had the Fox Mega-Float shock in the rear, and the APEX XTX. which had the dual shock 144" rear suspension. All three offered a good ride in the back. It all depends on what you are looking for. The XTX did have a little pre-mature hyfax wear, even more then what is normal for Yamaha.

I rode them all at a dealer demo day, and put on quite a few miles on all 3 models. I didn't care for the 2 short tracks, didn't get as much bite in the corners. Didn't think the se rode any better than the standard model. But maybe it wasn't set up right for me. I went with the XTX and have been very happy with it.
If you have a 2011 FI vector no way the Apex is worth $5000 more than it. The EPS and the HP is very nice but it is no way worth $5000 more than your sled. I would say maybe $3000 more but not $5000.
The Vector is an awesome trail sled if you ride trails be happy with it. It will stay with the Apex and any other sled. If you are racing on lakes and need the fastest and best thing out there then the Apex is the sled to have but for $5,000 not sure if it is worth it. Especially if it is used. They were selling new ones for $11,500US at the end of the year. A used one should be no more than $10,500 and your used sled should be worth at least $8,000.
I was debating on trading my 2010 Vector GT LTX in for the 2012 EPS Vector GT LTX model but don't think it is worth $2,000 for the EPS and the same sled. It may be worth the 2 years newer sled.
