Funny guy
You will thank all of us for our "encouragement" when we're on the road south.
You should come down to Valdez and run the hillclimb this April 19-21. Be really cool to see the sled in the mod class.

I'm moving as fast I can but I won't cut corners, not at this stage in the game. AKrider, I'll make it if I can but it will dependent on my work schedule.

Picked up the hoop hardware. 10-32 structural screws and missile nuts.
Got the cooler wrapped up which turned into a big job. Rick welded the extrusion a few days ago I finally got around to welding on the inlet & outlet tubes today. Pressure tested at 20 psi and had a fix couple pinholes which I expected since I'm using last years cooler extrusion and the coolant contaminates the aluminum. The extrusion is from CMX.
Tried to keep everything as high as possible. I like how it turned out. Clean, simple, & light. The u-cooler itself is a little over 7 total feet and weighs exactly 5 lbs. The supply and return tubes are 3/4" .035 5052 and all together with the four Adel clamps, screws, nuts, and both hoses to the cooler the complete cooling package is just a hair over 6 lbs.
Tomorrow I'll wrap up the charge tube, rivet the cooler, enclose the front of the tunnel with some .050 2024 I picked up today, and hopefully get a skid and track in.

Cant wait to see this thing done!
Nice work, plus you have all the tools. Can't wait to see this beast in action!

Wow! Sled is really coming together, even the turbo underneath is clean! Master builder comes to mind....
Quick question....did you shorten your header up front (before the merge)? Looks like it, but not sure. Was thinking this might be my only way to undertunnel in the end. I've given up on the UT for this year, instead angled the yoshi up at 30 degrees which got me a 3 gallon rotopax and skinz bag out back....and no fireball! Yahoo!!!

The header was cut right at the collector and then the elbow was welded on. The OAL from the front of the header to the turbo flange is 24". My excell vector header was even shorter as I had the exhaust flange welded on right after the collector.
Edited: I think I misread your question Mike. The header was not shortened anywhere before the collector.

Worked on the tunnel block off plate today. I'll be honest, I was not looking forward to this, what a pain in the butt. Material is .050 2024.
Took some practice runs to get the measurements figured out.
This is the brake I'm using. I bought one after seeing Rick put his through abuse. They're only $350 locally and do a decent job. One of these days I'll get around to reinforcing it so I can do thicker chromoly but it gets the job done for now.
Finished product.
Tomorrow I'll drill the holes and get it riveted.

Looks like a really nice piece only to have to drill 6 large holes in it HAHA. Nice craftsmenship though for a piece no one cares about. Cant wait for you to get this baby out on the white stuff!

I'm working on buttoning up the turbo kit and getting the skid and track in today, but here's a couple pics from yesterday. I wanted to try and keep the hole sizes to an absolute minimum.
Laying out the holes.
I punched 2" holes first to double the check the spacing, then tried again with a 1-3/4" punch to see if I could fit the header through since the expanded part of the tubes are nearly 1-3/4" themselves. It's tight, but the header will go through three 1-3/4" holes.
Test fitting one last time. I had to oval the coolant holes a tad but otherwise everything was good.
Finally got it done. I bet I have around 6 hours into this piece haha.
Riveted.
Not the prettiest addition to the sled, but I added a piece of small bulb angle cross the turbo cutout to take the flex out of the tunnel.
Back to the sled now for another looooong day.

I inquired about smaller exhaust holes with yamaha and they said premature flex joint failure was common due to lack of ventilation and excessive heat. Just passing on what I have heard.

Good thing I don't actually ride.
