I was wondering when the 2018 post would be up. Was hoping for a NA 180+ HP Apex japan built replacement. But with C.R.'s comment about the Apex faithful in his latest blog and everyone all giddy over the new Cat! Oh sorry, I mean Sidewinder. I don't see an all new 4cyl in Yamaha's plans. But I can always dream!

My predictions for 2018:

Apex gone...R.I.P (you will be missed, and second hand prices will go out of the roof;-)

Sidewinder gets 4-lb. weight reduction and BNG (black and chrome 50th anniversarie editon)

SRViper gets...BNG.

Phazer gone, and will be replaced with a new chassi, co-devolped with AC. Around 100 hp. Comes in green...so strange??

Vector still running one more year.

Viking gets also turbo, and nobody knows why...but, the timberhaulers are happy all day!

Old VK540 is a success, and more old 2smokes are resurrected like the ET340 and Snowsport 125.

And last, but not biggest...A new kids sled 80cc, futuristic design, with a super-cool aluminium omega-frame. Kids happy...adults jealous...

Not to far away I think.

200 hp 900 cc 2stroke that is as reliable as a 4 stroke and in a chassis that weighs 425 lbs and handle perfect, sips fuel and oil....and so on....sorry, had to be the first to make the rediculous statement lol

Well I still feel there was more to this years line up, like mr sled said winter sucked and sales plummeted. I feel they held back on a few models or even new chassis to offload overstock.

Realistically it seem cat still has some 1100 NA engines to get rid of this year so I'm going to go out on a limb and say a 998na replaces the 1100na for next year at around 110hp. That sweet spot will probably take place of both the Vector and Phazer.

I'll be peeking in the sidewinder forum. I liked the idea and the sled but can't afford it. I would expect 14-15000 for the cash price plus tax so basically out the door at list price. Best I can hope for is 5000 for my nytro. Meaning I need to find 10,000. Sooooo maybe a viper update for me since I can find them new for around 9-10,000 and used for 7-9000. I can scrounge up 4-5g not 10+

I agree. But also few new (revised) chassis is in works and the vk540 2smoke will be entry level prop along with the 998 na motor a lighter weight revised version of viper and the sidewinder

I would be very surprised /shocked to hear there was more , and it was held back .
I don't think it is possible to hold back , when the process that leads up to this point started 3 years ago , in some cases , and to pull the plug even 3 months before would seem to me impossible .
If something was held back , that decision would of been made 6-12 months before , and would have had nothing to do with a bad season , which only became apparent in the last 2 months .

They have done it before. One guy I know is friends with one the test rider/developers. They are fairly tight lipped but few years back he told him to do the dealer unveiling it would be amazing. And nothing new was released. He called him up and was told dude I rode the thing last week and it was this years sled. So for whatever reason they scrapped it last minute. It happens and here we are
