The 1997 Yamaha release of the trailing arm sleds , Yamaha was the lightest for a couple years .lol But after riding the 06 Apex that was 150 lbs heavier than everything else the power is more than worth it .

Yep bought one of those 97 SX sleds. Put some parts in it including Aaen triple pipes with their recommended motor mods back then. The pipes took another 20 lbs away from that sled. Also added the brand new to the industry (Bender adjustable transfer rods). True trail rocket that handled the smooth flat trails better then anything previously that I owned, and that RedHead was tough.

Yep, I remember going to a Yamaha sneak peak back then and they actually had a Mountain Max sitting on a live scale.

Amen!Sorry, I should have been more clear. What I meant was that someone can have 100 hundred hp more(assuming tuned), or 100 pounds lighter sled.
The two strokes may be more fun for some mountain use and/or off trail, but there is none of that where I do my riding. Light is good, but I prefer 270 hp over 170hp that weighs 100 pounds less.
