It was and still is, Yamaha stopped making pure trail performance sleds in 2018, To bad Yami/Cat wouldn't use some of the Apexes DNA, might actually help with some issues with that Jewel you got, oh well you can rest easy Cat got you coveredI thought the APEX was their flagship model

To be more accurate, Yamaha stopped making sleds a few years ago. Thus the Yamacat!
Pure trail performance?

Both the Apex and Vector were hard to beat on reliability, especially when compared to the Yamacat Winder.
But the Winder does so many things better as far as handling, ride and of course SPEED!
Just got to commit to checking and maintaining these race rockets, tuned or not!
Over 20000 miles on mine now and I only walked 3 times. Once when I ripped a arm off on railroad track cause of my stupidity and impatience and 2 other times with a electrical issue I finally solved with help of great people here. Sick of hearing how great the old sleds were. Countless pages of issues with them also. It’s a snowmobile. That’s all that should need to be said. It’s not if it’s when they break. Part of fun. We are risk takers. Keeps me young I think!

Well here we go again Yamaha vs Yamaha. A arm bushings, exhaust donuts, exup valve, lower drive bearing, idler wheels, handle bar grips, wiring for rear suspension shock, and the list goes on and on not to mention you had to disassemble half of the motor compartment to change oil. I'm not knocking the APEX I owned 3 of them but In now way shape or form are they better than the new Yamaha's. In 7 years of riding pro cross Yamaha's they have never left me stranded, I can't say the same for my Apex day's. I wish this whole comparing these two machines can be put to bed. All you need to do is go back to the APEX forum and you will find all kinds of things wrong. I have a chance to buy back my old 2008 Anniversary Addition and I probably will price is right but I won't be trail riding it that's for sure.

You got me there!
I thought they stopped making all sleds for 2021 after seeing the 98% new Blue Cat they are selling as Yamaha , a CAT 2 stroke even!

Yeah.. there is still hope from Japan, they are also still making the delta box for the Venture, great reliable touring sled, the rest are pretty much utility market, big demand up north for reliability. You got me there!

You should buy the 2008 Anniversary Edition, if you won't trail ride it you can always wax it and dream.Well here we go again Yamaha vs Yamaha. I'm waiting for him to decide what he's going to do after riding my Winder this weekend he no longer has any interest in his Apex. He's looking for a used Viper not so much worried about speed as he is in something that rides and handles better. You should buy the 2008 Anniversary Edition, if you won't trail ride it you can always wax it and dream.

It's already gone my other riding buddy sold his Nytro and bought my Viper. Slowly but surely getting rid of all the delta box chassis.

I was following that thread Cannondale27, what was the end result and solution of the electrical issue?
