2019s

When cruising, my 850 bud will do much better than i for MPG. When he keeps up, we are about the same.
He definitely doesn't get 19mpg.

And i rarely cruise. Makes me sleepy...

I averaged 15-16 with my 1200, best was a long cruise at 40-45 mph and got 20.5, lowest tank was 14
I have been getting 15 with my Winder
Mileage is VERY dependent on clutch tuning, if the R's are kept down at cruise great numbers can be had. Along with that comes good performing clutches

Rode in ST.Zenon Quebec last weekend with 850s. One run was 94 miles and my Sidewinder and the 850 used the same 30 Litres.. Around 8 gallons, and 12mpg. Tuned at 270 and stock 850. Running between 70 and 110mph all the way.. Very happy with the mileage of the winder..

Next year we'll see if a boosted SkiDoo turbo will do any better with belts and what else will fail. Not to mention the ugly front beak.

Everybody says they don't care about mileage. Maybe they don't ride too far from home? I know I went 120 miles before we hit a gas station in Quebec last week. I had plenty of fuel and so did the 1200's with me. When you need to go 120 plus miles between fuel stops you care about fuel mileage. You don't always have to ride like a maniac. There is more to snowmobiling than going balls out all the time.

That's just crazy talk right there!

You're making some pretty big overgeneralizations. Honestly, when I bought my Sidewinder, gas mpg was never even a consideration. 200 HP bad #*$&@ and great riding sled was what I was looking at. I waited 11 years between sleds and I wanted an Apex motor with turbo in great handling chassis. This was the next best thing and I pulled the trigger.
As far as guys not caring about mpg. Sure they do, but I think most are saying that's not a big factor in the purchase. I care and pay attention every ride. I might get irritated if mine's thirsty before someone else in my group, but it wouldn't change my purchase.
And I doubt most ride like a maniac all of the time? There's a time and a place to go fast. I like wide open areas for this-fields, lakes, etc. I highly doubt many purchased a 200 HP sled to go slow in those areas or not at least on occasion. Through the woods, I like to take in the scenery. Not see how fast I can get to ther next stop.

Exactly Joe......real trail riders always consider MPG. To say it does not matter makes zero sense to guys who actually ride these things more then around the house. ;)

I am sure everyone checks the mileage and wants a 200 HP 20 MPG sled but it will never happen. Its nice to know just so you can estimate the distance and plan gas stops. To me its the same as pulling a trailer.. if all you care about is the MPG stay home. I hate riding in a group and thats all we have to talk about is MPG.. lets have some real conversation.

People would't need to worry about mpg if we had larger fuel tanks on trail sleds .The other issue doing back pack trips is places being out of gas ,happens more than needs to .
