Motorcycle motors, R1, 998 ,exhaust out back, gotta make a snowmobile motor, like Suzuki did, fit in chassis exhaust coming from front of motor, just saying!!Yamaha for sure hands down as a engine builder don't get any better, as long as they stop sourcing from Subaru for some engines and china for parts.
Exactly right, totally agree, the winder engine I think was designed for a sled but has its roots from the motorcycle side, but it doesn't seem to fit right in the pro cross, Yamaha has to design their own chassis too properly fit these engines, the Winder seems to have a high center of gravity but stills handles good, a custom built chassis to house the 998 t would be one awesome handling and balanced sled.Motorcycle motors, R1, 998 ,exhaust out back, gotta make a snowmobile motor, like Suzuki did, fit in chassis exhaust coming from front of motor, just saying!!
Nice sled in picture new ac front spindles
All sleds have there quirks about them, I had a chance to ride the sidewinder and was a nice sled ..yes, nice seating position rider forward comfort and handled not to bad and stayed planted for the most part, ah..yes scary f#%king fast but it has a Yamaha turbo engine, but maybe it was just me but the sled just didn't seem to have the quality and just felt like it was put together from Kimpex, the amount of money you pay for this sled it should have the top of the line quality and feel to it, I have a 16 Apex xtx and it might not be the best handling sled or best seating position but rest assure the quality, reliability, fit and finish and engine are all top notch, as far as a balanced snow machine goes in the sled world I would have to say the new 850 Polaris 129 skid, nothing to do with reliability just balanced.Come on man the Viper and Sidewinder handle and ride way better than a Apex or Nytro. The delta box chassis was build for the 1049 correct. If they were shoe horned in to the pro cross chassis then that is not saying much for the delta box chassis that they were designed for now is it. The 998 3 cyl was devolped for the snowmachine and SXS nothing to do with motorcycle. Please fill me in on what snowmachine you think handles better and is more balanced. It is surely not a Apex.
Did the 16 Apex engine have parts outsourced like the Vector and Viper. I'm just asking because I recently saw a 16 Apex that threw a rod, and it was stock. 5000kms.All sleds have there quirks about them, I had a chance to ride the sidewinder and was a nice sled ..yes, nice seating position rider forward comfort and handled not to bad and stayed planted for the most part, ah..yes scary f#%king fast but it has a Yamaha turbo engine, but maybe it was just me but the sled just didn't seem to have the quality and just felt like it was put together from Kimpex, the amount of money you pay for this sled it should have the top of the line quality and feel to it, I have a 16 Apex xtx and it might not be the best handling sled or best seating position but rest assure the quality, reliability, fit and finish and engine are all top notch, as far as a balanced snow machine goes in the sled world I would have to say the new 850 Polaris 129 skid, nothing to do with reliability just balanced.
That's more than I can tell you, i'm pretty sure they updated the Apex engine not sure if it was in the 16 year model though, I seen that picture to, 1 in a million, lolDid the 16 Apex engine have parts outsourced like the Vector and Viper. Yes, very rare. My dealer had an 09 throw a rod many years ago, but aside from that one, he has never had an engine failure on Apex. That's more than I can tell you, i'm pretty sure they updated the Apex engine not sure if it was in the 16 year model though, I seen that picture to, 1 in a million, lol
It is rare but does happen, most part the 4 banger is very durable that's why it was so popular and had a big following.Yes, very rare. My dealer had an 09 throw a rod many years ago, but aside from that one, he has never had an engine failure on Apex.
I do think the new controls and brake on the 19's have enhanced the quality feel. Its surprising what a few little things can do and what we get used to. Hell all my woodscrews and Torq are still original and they have been in and out plenty. I agree though. Owning a 800RR is no doubt this chassis was designed around that 2st motor. Not sure how other than flipping the head how they could get engine down in pan where it belongs without effecting the front/ rear balance which is perfect. The bodywork is too wide. Riding a Alpha convinced me even more of that after riding Poos and Doos. All sleds have there quirks about them, I had a chance to ride the sidewinder and was a nice sled ..yes, nice seating position rider forward comfort and handled not to bad and stayed planted for the most part, ah..yes scary f#%king fast but it has a Yamaha turbo engine, but maybe it was just me but the sled just didn't seem to have the quality and just felt like it was put together from Kimpex, the amount of money you pay for this sled it should have the top of the line quality and feel to it, I have a 16 Apex xtx and it might not be the best handling sled or best seating position but rest assure the quality, reliability, fit and finish and engine are all top notch, as far as a balanced snow machine goes in the sled world I would have to say the new 850 Polaris 129 skid, nothing to do with reliability just balanced.
Cannondale, when they announced changes to the controls, I thought to myself, big deal! But after riding my 19, the new reverse button is VERY nice in fact, as well as the brake lever and kill button.I do think the new controls and brake on the 19's have enhanced the quality feel. I liked the brake so much I bought one! The smaller grips of a few seasons ago. Much nicer wiring in Sidewinders and the newer bodywork. Not narrow like a Alpha but much better than Viper. Heck even the rear axle setup on 19's is dang nice! I hope Yamaha takes a lesson in clutching from the 19 cats also. You guys thinking this guy was really impressed with that Alpha? I was AMAZED! Cant stop thinking about it. If Yamaha offers similar it may be the one.Cannondale, when they announced changes to the controls, I thought to myself, big deal! One thing I just noticed with my iPad bigger picture, that top pic has been photo shopped or modified, the first sled is bigger than the sled being towed??? Some body is screwing with the pics .....
