The inventory reduction plan is working. I know Pat's who moves a lot of sleds was pretty much out of new Yamaha sleds. Their other dealership in Hancock did not have any Yamaha's on the floor. Just a showroom full of Arctic Cats. They seemed pretty happy about that.
Also the fake 2 stroke sled we all saw floating around on here and on social media is just that, an Arctic Cat 2 stroke 800 Alpha with a beautifully done wrap. It has no affiliation with Yamaha. But you never know, maybe it hit the internet for a reason....a good way to read people's opinions about offering one. If that was true then I would say it had a slight affiliation with Yamaha.

Unless Polaris up the ante, it looks like the Winder/T-Cat will remain king.

Polaris may very well up the ante and answer to the SideWinder -Thunder Cat hyper sled title, they answered to Doo's 850 and have been pretty quiet about 4 strokes so far, they do have the tech to do it and build it and put it in their own chassis, will we see a hot rod turbo 4 stroke from Polaris that will out run the winder and take over the bragging rights , that would make the sled world interesting.

Former Yamaha sleds:
2004 Venture 600 2002 SX Viper 700
1997 Vmax 600 SX 1994 Vmax 600 1989 Exciter
1986 Vmax 540 1986 Phaser 1981 SRX 440
There last turbo sled did not go over well. Polaris 4 strokes did not have much of a fan base.

As much as I'd like to see the hyper sled wars take off again I just can't see it happening. While many of us here like the big power, and reliability of the 4s turbo, the majority of the market still prefers the lighter and more nimble 2s sleds We probably have some of the best wide, flat high speed trails in the world here, ideal conditions for Winders and Apexes etc,,, and there are lots of those sleds around, however Doo is still the most popular around here and it seems more and Poo each year. Doo and Poo are quite happy to be dominating the market share. They build and sell a lot of lightweight mostly disposable 2S sleds and the mountain segment seems to keep growing. BRP has had the technology available for quite sometime to build a 200+ hp Turbo sled but have not done so, many saying they want their 850 to remain the top of their pile as they spend the money on R&D and make the money on selling them, replacing them and their engines.Polaris may very well up the ante and answer to the SideWinder -Thunder Cat hyper sled title, they answered to Doo's 850 and have been pretty quiet about 4 strokes so far, they do have the tech to do it and build it and put it in their own chassis, will we see a hot rod turbo 4 stroke from Polaris that will out run the winder and take over the bragging rights , that would make the sled world interesting.

They’d have to up the ante quite a bit. I got to race a brand new broken in 850 a couple weeks ago with my stock Sidewinder. It wasn’t even close, he did get me out of the hole with his uncoupled skid but I literally sucked the side panels off his sled when I passed him.

No one is going to compete with Yamaha in this arena. Not CC for CC in a four stroke motor. Some may point to Ski Doo and some are bummed they more or less dropped the 1200 but right there....it’s a 1200, not a 1000....and they did not totally build that motor either. But when it comes to 4 stroke motors in sleds I will take Yamaha for the win.

Decisions like this are not made by people like us blasting down the trails. They are made by people in suits sitting in board rooms surrounded by graphs and pie charts. The best way to ensure we have hyper sleds in the future is for them to build “bread and butter” type sleds. Dodge could not have produced the Viper if they didn’t sell a sh!t load of minivans. Along with marketing, Doo does this very well.
They need to produce a sled for the masses - like the 900t but better. A 4s twin with a turbo around 800 cc and 160 hp. Make it very light, fuel efficient and super dependable. Use the Procross chassis but with Yamaha QC. Yamaha may not have built the best chassis in the past 10 or 15 years but they did have the best quality control for what they did build.
They would sell a pile of sleds like that and with any luck, continue to fund Sidewinder type, limited production hyper sleds for idiots like us.

I highly doubt you'll ever see another 100% Yamaha sled again.
