Are parents really going to spend thousands of dollars on a new sled for their kids? I’m sure some do, and that’s fine. I’m not broke by any means, but there’s no way I’m spending thousands on a new sled for my kids. I paid $550 for an 83’ bravo and they love it! It will last them a while. When the time comes, I’ll try to find another 340 enticer for them. Once they outgrow that and want to continue with sledding, they can go get a job and buy a bigger sled if they want to.

I get my son wrenching on my vipers from time to time and he likes it. And if the son or daughter crash the bravo, it’s not a huge deal.

Maybe it is a wait until you have grandkids kind of thing, but I confess to buying my oldest grandson a brand new Phazer XTX a few years ago. I am pushing 70 now, but snowmobiling has always been my absolute favorite recreation, and I look forward to winter for the other 9 months a year. Up until recently, when he discovered girls and had to start working after school and weekends, my grandson was my primary riding buddy. Selfishly, I wanted him on a sled that could keep up with me, and a sled that we could depend upon not to break down when we were deep into the North woods and 50 miles from civilization. Honestly, looking back, the time I spent with my grandson has been worth far more than any money I have spent on sleds.

I've spent a fair bit of time in recent years rehabbing old ETs and Bravos and bringing them back into circulation. Why? Well, first, they're awesome, and second, they are still relevant. The market doesn't have an inexpensive mid-sized sled right now. And it won't any time soon. I can rehab like 8 or 10 ETs and ECs for the cost of one new sled. I don't make any money on it, but I have managed to make some smiles.

I've been so excited for new releases the last couple years, and I am hesitant to get excited just as of yet. Will we quietly see a tuning fork badge on $12,000 Blasts?
