I read this on Doo talk. This guy was testing a Mach Z with the Hurricane 230 hp Ecu. Looks like they aren’t close to the SRX with similar power levels.View attachment 164880
Was my 2 srxs that we were comparing to the 2 machs. River was snow/ice not ideal speed conditions. The hurricane ecu on the mach picked up quite a bit and ran 112 in 1320. On the 240 tune I ran a 119.8 in 1320. We did a roll on with the Hurricane ecu mach and my wife's stock srx and they were pretty even.

On DooTalk they said it was a 300HP Winder that went 120 in 1320. Strange how the story changes, now we hear it was only a 240 tune that went 120 in 1320, not 300HP.

Anything to make them feel better about the Mack I guess. Damn DooQuackers!

Just for comparison a tuned winder (hurricane 300) is running 120.1mph in 1320 on same stretch of river

We were doing multiple runs on different tunes. 240 was 119.8 mph in 1320. This was also at 8600rpm. 300 tune was 122.9 mph in 1320 at 9000rpm. The 120.1 mph was the day before and it was quite warm out. Didn't really pick up much on the 300 tune. I've switched to a bigger fuel pump and adjustable regulator this year and know I was running very rich on the 300 tune. I just ordered the closed loop so I can dial it in a bit better without having to mess with regulator psi.

You are probably aware of the one on DT that was listed @ $30K and sold

It didn't sell for that amount though. 25 or 27 as I recall, also is that CA or US dollars, and as time goes on and people see how slow they are I'm not so sure the demand will be as high.

My bud just called with his dragy results using my borrowed dragy and his did 97.4 MPH in 1000 foot on ice, pretty much exactly the same as what was poset by DC5 on the stock Mack on DooQuack.

I know he didn't get 30K, but I bet 10K over what he paid...US $$$ btw
The Mach may not end up being the best competition, but I give Doo some credit for at least trying to push the envelope. Mike I think your tune would be different if Doo would've used the 1200 motor for their turbo sled...I know I would've been alot more interested.

The 1200 would have worked great, but it was still a heavy front end sled. They used the 900ACE because it was at no extra expense to them and it was NOT as heavy as a 1200. The 1200 was costing them in royalties.

The 900 ACE did this for skidoo...

1. They advertised on a 180hp level. It gave them 193hp.
2. It was also more then the 150hp 900T.

Skidoo never said it was going to be the fastest sled, they said the most powerful skidoo ever built.

So, they did deliver, but just NOT what everyone wanted.

One thing they need to do though is fix the handling and the heavy feeling on the front end.

Oh for sure, but they still have to do something with their front end and find a way to keep the dang skis down when under power. I think its a good sled don't get me wrong, but the Winder can be driven faster and easier. I'm interested in actually owning one someday when I'm ready to be happy with just 190 HP and slow down a bit and enjoy the scenery, but right now I like the Winder handling better. Remember I came off of years of Doos. I don't want to work so hard to try and keep up with the Cat chassis, I could almost do it but not for long and it wore me out on the Doo trying to keep up with my bud on his winder. One ride on the winder and I knew I'd have to switch, two weeks later I had a winder like his even though my turbo 1200 was faster in a drag race. Sold the turbo 1200 I like so much. I thought the r-motion was good the first year maybe two, after that it lost its good ride, rebuilding the shocks did not help it and I wasn't as enthused with the ride any longer. 6000 miles on my Winder and I'm still just as impressed and find it holding up nicely. Wondering what my next sled to replace it is going to be, but I see no reason to replace it other than getting bored, and I'm not bored with it yet. Actually like it more and more every season.

Everyone on DooQuack acts like the G4 is soooo much different than the old XS and XR chassis, but the feel, handling and ride is still the same to me. Much like going from the old Apex to the newer one. They still feel the same and not much has changed that way. The Doo still needs attention to keep the ski lift at bay and the bump steer addressed in the front end. I like the way my Winder handles and rides, and that's the reason I switched from my old turbo 1200. I knew there was no way to make it work like the Cat chassis and flat out like the Cat chassis ride, handling and egos better, still do. I can ride the Cat chassis faster with much less effort and in much more comfort.

Great explanation Mike,

I agree as we had both in our group and ride back and forth often. I have a 17 LTX SE with upgraded QS3's all around and once setup right they really are a great all day sled. I will say though that when new the doo rear is awesome and my buddy who ride his new one says the smart shock is even better. Cheers

No good reports Let hear some stock 4 stock head to head racing results

Doesn't look good for the motor in the 900. No idea what the state of the donor motor is for this build but the poster claims it only has 5 miles on it and the bearing surfaces look bad.

I honestly think the Mach is way over hyped. I bought a Renegade 900R X pkg because I felt all the extra BS that comes on the Mach including launch control and smart shocks just add weight. (over 30 lbs more than the X) I also couldn't care less about top speed. I wanted a reliable trail sled with some snot and I think I picked the right one.
I loved my Winder and felt the front was superior to the Doo but the rear was lacking. The new X front and rear suspension work great on the Doo and like the Winder the front stays down. For whatever dumb reason the Doo boys like transfer and change the stock settings to more transfer. I guess it makes them feel special when the front comes up. Those same guys like blipping the throttle also.
What I find interesting is guys who absolutely hate 4 strokes bought Machs. They called my Winder a heavy pig that couldn't get out of their own way. Then they called my 900 turbo the same and said they would never own a heavy 4 stroke.
What did they think? Did they think an even heavier Mach was going to magically handle lighter. Did they think that everything they hated about 4 strokes would suddenly disappear on the Mach.
Those who bought the Mach knowing what to expect from it will love them and the dreamers will be selling them by the end of the season.
There is no doubt in my mind that if you want the fastest sled on snow buy a 998 equipped sled and clutch it, tune it and rule the lakes. I have no idea why you guys are getting worked up about the Mach when you own by far the most powerful sled ever produced.
