5/16 washer trick for secondary clutch

most affter market set up all ready come with a lttle more o/d than stk. i think the way you explaned about the roller set it sounds simler to a A/C clutch. if that,s what it looks like there could be a shalow cut out on the helx where roller plate could fit into at max shift out if so that your o/d. those are a nice set up. fyi did you know that the cat and yamaha secoundery,s are so close to the same it,s scary. the cat roller plate even fits on to the studs that hold the helx on the yamaha clutch. i was thinking a year or so back about moding a cat helx and drilling and taping three mounting holes and bolting on a A/C roller cover my self. ;)!

lock washers work the best and they are over 1 mm. this all so gives the secoundery spring a little more room in the clutch before the sping coil bind,s.

i have an ulmer stage 2 clutch kit installed in my attak, so this mod. wouldn't doing anything, would it?
 
No, nothing. the washers is the cheating way to acomplish the helix mod.

with the affter market helx,s there si no advantage unless you have the primary shaved for o/d your there. these washers do three things 1 moves the center boss out. 2 moves the tip,s away from the clutch so they dont touch. (even with the boss cut down) 3 gives the stk sping a little more room to compress with out haveing coil bind. and it,s very cost efftive and it,s not perment. :flag:

wonder if it would work on the phazer fx? i have an ulmer clutch kit but it only consist of the primary spring and the weight, the helix is stock
 
Will not work on a Phazer as it is a completely different secondary design.
 
What would this mod do for a mountain rx1? Would there be any increase in track speed in the deep powder?

it would depend were you run in your clutch,s. this manly help.s when you are runing into the top of the clutch. to make use of a little bit of o/d that,s in the stk primary. if you get your primary cut for more o/d you would need a lot more than this alone would give. as the stk spring would need about 7-8 mm more room after moding the primary and secoundary for o/d. as i have never rode in the mtn,s i can not give a fair opinon on mtn rideing . as we here on the flat lake rideing run at fairly high speed,s reg basis (100+mph) over long run,s (20-30 miles)
 
I have just changed my secondary sping and will ride with no other changes on Sunday. Monday I will add the washers and post difference after the ride.
