Adapt Cat clutch

does the tension adjuster thing BOP makes accomodates the wider belt ?
It only sets belt deflection and assists in removing belts and or installing. So it would help with a wider belt in setting the deflection but the wider belt effects shift characteristics especially full shift out. Also the belt designed for the adapt COULD be cut slightly different(angle) then what the sidewinder uses(8jp or XS825)

Sorry to see the damaged clutch. I doubt any stock clutch can take big tunes and big speed for too long. I know most people are not made of cubic dollars but it has been my experience that a drivetrain designed for XX HP may not hold up when you put XXX HP against it. I first learned this as a kid when we put a 327 in a Chevy Vega. The rear end lasted one weekend LOL. Not sure what the new cat clutch is designed to live with when big power is applied.

On early Tcats we twisted the jack shafts when adding HP and hooked them hard on the ice. We ended up having better shafts built by a tool company. My point is that we need to invest in the drivetrain when we add big HP. I bit the bullet on TAPP on my 1100 a couple of years ago and have been happy with it. High power will always try and find the next weak link in the drive train be it clutches, belts, shafts, gears, etc.
Works at 200, won't work at 300. LOL

Are you running a Tapp on your sled, Turboflash? I've had the Team clutch up until a couple weeks ago and have around 2,800 miles on the sled. I would like to think the new Adapt clutch would be at least AS durable as the clutch it replaced, which we all know wasn't spectacular.

I use that phrase sometimes when buddies ask why this or that failed or broke or wore out on a 300HP 998. Sled was designed for 186 HP.
Finished this winter still on Team that I did radius trick on last year. Going to Tapp or STM for next year. I think I am running on borrowed time. Team history on bigger tunes is not very good.
My Team still looks great. Hard to believe they don't seem to wear out on 998. Spider still tight, no bushing wear, no roller wear. Sheaves look good. No cracks. 6,900 miles.

I think the harmonics on a 300HP 998 are different than a 300HP 1100. The 998 may be better in that department. Also, people that can't figure how to run their belts cool may also have more clutch failures. Harmonics and Heat can kill most mechanical devices.

How much hp will the Adapt clutch handle?
Does @Thunder Products have a clutch kit for it yet?
IDK - that's a top secret # LOL. Just like most clutches, some guys can make 'em last and some guys can't. Like Upstater57 said, heat is a big killer.
When you find out the answer to your question, please let us know.
My Team has been able to stay together on 300HP for 3 years now. (P.S. I am not a Sunday afternoon pilot LOL).

I have removed my sidewinder primary and installed a nytro primary two years ago. Zero clutch and belt issues since.
But with the adapt clutch their is zero rattle at idle from clutch on the 998 motor and its quiet.

Im pretty certain thunder products has adapt weights as well as Dalton and Bikeman has their snyper series weights for it as well. Stingray released some fairly recently too. Plenty of weight choices for next winter

So, does this mean your trying the adapt clutch now and can personally vouch for the quietness or are you going off of what you saw and heard in Mohr video on viper?

I dont have an Adapt clutch yet.
Couple weeks ago I towed a new 22 thundercat off the trail. It would run and idle with a jump start but would not charge battery.
That is where I heard one run with the sidepanel off.

I haven't checked that out yet but am intending to. I wonder if they, or anyone have ADAPT wide weights? Unless I'm wrong, D&D were the only guys I could see that have an adjustable (magnets like BMP) weight that is almost as wide as the roller. Seems like everyone else just uses pretty much a standard width? Dalton shows ADAPT weight but they look like standard width. I like the really wide weight as it spreads the force over a much bigger surface. Weight bushings don't wear out. And, rollers don't get a groove in them where the narrower weight runs.
