Trying to evaluate the need for a aftermarket lower belt guard on stock Sidewinders to lets say max 240hp tunes. As I understand most bigger tunes runs higher risk.

Cheap plastic on these sleds compaired to the japan sleds. You need a protector.

No sense it chancing it. Ive only blown 2 in 4500 miles. First one was light acceleration at 75mph and it broke my lower side panel up near the shock mount. Installed precision guard after. Blew second belt around 4000 miles and didnt even leave a ding in the guard. Wouldnt even run a stock winder without one.

Has anyone considered using a belt temp gauge system? Buddy is putting one on his side x side. He says it reads the belt temp at all times.
If works as good as he mentions then you could stop before the belt blows.

Ive had belt temp gauge for 2 seasons as well. It will save a belt if the failure is due to heat but belts blow for other reasons. My second and last belt that blew was operating at 115 degrees when it came apart. It was likely defective as I replaced it and finished the season without another issue.

Ran 240/270/300 this winter for 6500km. I use the xs825 belt and change it every 2500 ish km. Seems like alot of guys start having alignment issues after blowing belts, so I'd rather just change it out ahead of time.

Yes just do it.
BOP works well, have had mine off a couple of times to straighten after blowing a belt!

No blown belts this year, thanks to clutch offset and XS825 belt, and short season of only 1600 miles!
