Has anyone looked into fixing an aftermarket fan to the radiator?
I really want a fan for the winter and it sounds like yamaha isn't going to help me out with it. $140 from the dealer is little pricey.
I have been looking around on the net and the smallest I can find, so far, is about 9" across, including the shroud. I think that's too big, but I haven't actually measured how much room is there. The bonus is you can pick one of these up for about $25, just need to find the right size.
Any thoughts...?
Thanks,
Trevor

What dealer you working with? I'm dealing with Hollinger's Sports n Turf and they are getting me a fan. Just called me this week to tell me it is and wanted to know when I could bring sled in to have it installed. It's all being covered under warranty. The 08's come with them, so there's no reason why they can't provide them to all the 07 owners.
Is this something that the dealers are going to give to everyone ??

I got one from the dealer after somewhat of a pain, i talked to one of the tech support guys and he told me to tell the dealer to call him to confirm the problem. after that the dealer supplied a fan at no charge.

I bought mine from F&S in Hanover, PA. I had yamaha pick up the tab for the side panels, but I had to contact yamaha myself.
They (F&S) have an open house coming up soon. I'll try again and see if they are going to do anything.
UPDATE! I just got off the phone with them (F&S). They aren't totally geared up for the season yet, so they haven't made any calls to anyone on the "want a fan" list, but they had just gotten the word from yamaha... Anyone that wants a fan is covered!
Thanks,
Trevor
Thanx for the info on this. So we will have to call are dealer to get on a list to get one.

I happen to have a small 12 volt fan that I bought for another application that I think would work. The company name is Spal Type: VA31-A101-46S 12 volt. If I remember right it 400 cfm but I really don't remember. I hooked it to the sled harness and it worked fine. shut off with the key switch and dosen't come on till it's "hot". One thought I had is if you have the radiator icing problem then set it to run backward then it will blow the heat right on the ice buildup that should take care of the problem. The only thing I haven't figure out yet is how I'd mount it. Thought about maybe cutting some fins in the raditaor and using plastic bolts? I'm going to try to get one from the dealer first but if not I'll end up mounting the one I have.

Very Cool! The first diy cooling fan. Thanks for the pics and info.
Oh btw, I was thinking some zip-ties through the radiator would hold it.?
