Looking for feedback from riders that have replaced their stock exhaust manifold with a header.

How many miles on new header?

Any problems with clearances?

Anyone had their header crack?

Would you do the replacement again or stay with stock manifold?

and what are the results and impacts when running on a specfic tune?

TD Gen 1 header. ~1,100 miles. No issues (just inspected). More power at less boost. Excellent tank clearance. No issues at all. Will need to massage the stock heat shield a little, but nothing difficult though. Apples for apples, header adds 15 hp per TD. I run Max Spool 17 on both my sleds. SW has header, Cat doesn't. Cat shows 290 hp tune, SW shows 305 hp tune. I'll be getting the TD Gen 2 for the Cat soon. Gen 2 is a long-tube header that moves the collector closer to the turbo. My understanding is this Gen 2 header should spool up even faster/better than Gen 1, which is crazy because the Gen 1 header spools so fast already.

So far about 3000km on my Hurricane header!!
Last year I did just over 1000km with the gen1 Hurricane header (no clearance) 3/16" clearance between header and gas tank.. It ran awsome and I had no issues but knowing how close it was had me nervous when riding so I removed it when doing big mile.trips!!
This header is more suitable for a race /track sled.

last fall i sent the header back to Dave and had him modify it for extra clearance.
Got it back and installed it and am satisfied with the clearance now.
Ran over 2000km this season all on 270-300 tunes and Just loved it!!!

The header and tune is absolutely awsome... it hits hard and I find it violent...haha!!

Now that I got a good feel for the header tune there is no going back!!!!

Eventually the header might crack or break but ill just buy another if that time comes!!!
No different then the stock extention pipe cracking and and breaking on our 998's

1600 miles this winter on my Hurricane clearanced header. No issues running higher speeds for extended periods of time.
Love it.
Pics from last fall when I installed it.

Just wanted to bring this one back to the top. Absolutely love the pull the header tunes make. However, I ran the TD G1 header this year and had it fail twice (at the bellows both times) in 3200 miles. Has anyone had better luck with either the TD G2 header or the hurricane improved clearance header?

Two seasons on the Hurricane clearanced header with no issues. No pipe wrap just stockheat shields and additional firewall heat shields applied in tight areas.

If anybody is interested i have a extra clearance hurricane header to part with, didnt wrk well for me at high elevation, went back to stk manifold i ported out, less than 2000 miles on it good shape no cracks, priced about one third of new!! Call me 605-five six nine 35 six four.

How did you go about porting the stock manifold?
