Aftermarket Ski Recommendations

I have tried a few different ones and settled on the slydog Powder hounds with duel on one side and single carbide on other. The keel is the same on the powder hounds as the trail ones just wider. They seem to be about 95% of perfect in almost every situation. I'm happy.

Thanks Kinger! The budget director put the kabosh on new skis for me this year but I was able to get her to agree on a set of snowtracker agressives as I needed carbides anyway. If they work out like was posted earlier in this thread I may spring for Yamaha mountain skis in the future as the Snowtrackers will bolt right on.

Best regards,

Steve

Remember to set your toe out to zero as recommended. I did that and had zero darting, almost nil steering effort.

Thanks nadekeys for the reminder - I will be sure to do that..... I like the prospect of less steering effort - the duallies were quite a workout.

I added these Yamaha A-arm protectors last year and they really do help with deep snow flotation. They act like skis in a way.

Where is everyone getting their snowtrackers from. I'm looking to get a set

Great. Thanks guys. I was going to contact Port Yamaha to get the skis. I assume all the hardware from my stock skis will work

I had Pilot 5.7's and didn't like them in soft snow. I went back to OEM's and tried Woody's Duallys Original. Night and day difference. Love this setup.

Update:

First - thanks to all who replied - very helpful!!!

Second - the budget director recently gave the green light for the purchase of Yamaha mountain skis. A quick call to Port Yamaha got them on order along with the additional hardware for the install (Thanks Kevin!!). All installed flawlessly and I am hoping the additional width, additional keel depth along with the Snowtrackers should give me what I am looking for.

Now if it ever snows in MN I can test them out. They look GREAT on the trailer..... :letsnow:

Further Update:

Had a chance to try the combination out over a 3 day weekend recently. The sled was railing through the corners - I felt like I was roadracing motorcycles again!!! Steering lighter than with the duallys I had before on the stock skis. No real deep snow here in MN so floatation improvement remains to be seen. Was running on freshly groomed trails and on 4" of fresh snow with no pushing on either.

Very happy with this setup!

Steve :D

Snow trackers and mountain skis works pretty well for me...

X2. I've used this combo on Apex and Nytro XTX and works real well. Good floatation 0 darting, and rails on the trail.
