ALL SC NYTRO FLATLANDERS BEWARE 1000ft altitude.

Most of us are getting boost numbers off the TB. There are now 5 Nytro's down in central Ontario. I think with most of us it is gradually breakdown, with most guys having between 1000-1500kms before its real bad. Every Nytro owner running the GEMS setup has got to be extremely careful, you can not run your midrange at 14 - 16 AFM. See attached pics, this is suppose to have been perfect tuning!!!

Great info, it may help in preventing it happening to others. I have to side with Skydog on the RB3, great adjustability everywhere in the map.

Boost gauge was on ic , but moved to tb side for more acurate boost reading.

Gems hose was tee ic / fuel reg.

Move to the IC again you will have the problem go away. MPI used to be extremely anal about referencing off the IC.

UPDATE , HEATH AT MPI JUST CALLED.

The Gems program WAS , set to come on at .5 lbs , major increase at 2 lbs ,
then ramp up fuel gradually to 11 lbs then flatline full fuel.

As of yesterday , NOW , set to come on at .5lbs , but ramp up fuel on a steeper curve to 6 lbs , then flat line wide open fuel.

Making more fuel available earlier !!

My sled shows 2 green lites until 2lbs boost (a/f 15-16+)
Then at 2 lbs , click goes to 3 reds , and a/f 10.5
and will be 11.5 + wot.

Running now Gems @ 1000 ft altitude

They told me to go off TB, because its a more accurate reading on what the engine is seeing for boost.

For your boost reading not your gems controller. THe Gems line NEEEDS to be in the intercooler.

The hard thing to grasp is there is so many kits that have been out in that area for 2 years now.. Few customers have almost 5,000 miles on them.

We have modified a tune to transition blue green mode sooner it has always been set to start adding fuel at .5 lbs.

Glen will have this tune for testing ina few days.

My SC APEX WAS PERFECT FOR 2 YEARS .

THIS IS NOT TO BEAT UP , MPI , BUT TO HELP ALL OF US FIX THE PROBLEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes the GEMS is Tee'd in the line between the intercooler and the fuel regulator, the boost reading that is being quoted is read off the throttle bodies for a more accurate number on what is entering the engine.

VARIABLES BEING 2010 NYTROS ?????

OR OUR OXYINATED FUEL , ??????

OR ETHANOL ADDED , FUEL ??????

GSXR, THERE IS NO NEED TO YELL AT ME!!!!!

For the fifth time I would ask what your GEMS settings were.

I don't know what your issue is or why your sled burned down. No matter the reason it sucks, these motors are expensive. Having said that....

I do not agree with your assertion that the GEMS does nothing until 2 pounds. I have in fact seen real world results that disprove your claim. You can call whomever you chose at Dobeck I have seen it with my own eyes and controlled the settings with my own fingers. Maybe YOURS is not supplying fuel until 2 pounds due to a plumbing issue, malfunctioning GEMS, some other malfunction, or any of dozens of possible causes.

IF you were riding with a reading of 16:1 AFR and continued to do so for any significant amount of time then you should not have. That is a recipe for disaster and regardless of the underlying cause continuing to operate at that AFR is begging for trouble.

I have not seen, although it is possible I have missed them, claims from masses of others that their gems has caused them to melt down their motor under 2 pounds of boost. There are literally hundreds out there, why is this not a more widespread issue?

Before we all go running out with pitch forks to get MPI I think there is more information to be gleemed.

SPRAY , CALL MATT AT DOBECK.

I did and that is why I posted the info !

Do this test to prove my point !

Have your sled idle , blue lite is on.
Increase all , green , yellow , red to ### 8

It will run the same , until 2 lbs then flood all over the place. Try it !!!
