Ok guys. For all those that I doubted last year.....I'm sorry.
Yesturday while out riding, I hit a 300 lb rock underneith the snow. At first I didn't notice any damage right away, then I saw it. The classic one ski forward then the other.........oh crap.....it finally happen to me.
I'd say 70% is my fault due to not knowing whats under the snow in my own backyard. But I'll blame Yamaha for the other 30% for bad design. They left a very vital part of the sled wide open for damages like this.
I took the sled in right way to my dealer and had them order up the parts to get me back on the trail. This is where the huge problem occures. Yep....you guessed it...........subframe on BACK ORDER
For all of you that went through the subframe issue how long did it take to get things back together and back out on the trail. My dealer couldn't give me a timeframe for when the part will come in. I'm not in a panic mode yet, but will soon melt down 1 week from now if I can't have my sled together by Feb 4th. I'm part of a huge get together up at Tug Hill, and I won't even attempt to ride my daughters Formula 380 or my wifes Pantera 570 up there.
So how about it guys......can anyone give me a straight answer to how long these subframes are on back order. My next step is to call Yamaha and put a spark in someones azz and get me back on the trails. Seems kinda funny that Yamaha knows of these subframe issues and that they would keep them in stock. What they really should do is for every Nytro they build add an extra subfrme to their inventory, because sooner or later it will be needed.

3 WEEKS.....you gotta be kidding me. We are in the middle of a once in a life time winter season and Yamaha can't get me out on the trails sooner. My A-arms are ok, just need the stupid subframe. My dealer has sold all of their Nytros, so nothing in stock to rob from.
call customer service, talk to them nicely and try to get an idea when they will be available. (the dealer may just be telling you they are not available to buy some time with you).
if the dealer has the part it is only a few hours to swap them out.
let yamaha know your time table for the trip, and see if there is anything they can do to accomdate you. good luck, hope things work out for you. ski

I got a sub-frame within a few days ordering thru Port Yamaha, but I would assume the back order situation is affecting all dealers. Maybe you'd get lucky by sending out e-mails to a number of dealers to see if they happened to order any on spec.
Not that it helps you, but this should help make our plight known to Yamaha. Someone there should notice the number of sub-frames going out the door without the rest of the sled attached.

Could you just ride with it tweaked? Or would it effect the handling?

I think mine may be tweaked,I am not sure. I know when I turn my bars straight the skis are straight as well.

Are you saying the skis actually follow your handlebars? How bizarre.

How far back? Is the shock rubbing the control arm? If it's not to bad, straighten the damn thing with a couple chains and a come-a-long, re-set the toe and go. Replace the subframe when it comes in.
And here's the best advice I can give you, stop hitting 300+Lb rocks!

Don't scare me with the backorder thing. Mine is bent also. I am still arguing with yamaha customer service about covering it but the dealer ordered mine today and said it was avail and would be here by thursday. I'll let you know how it goes. I also have a big trip planned the first week of feb

That sucks to hear, but from what I'm told by my buddie who is a parts guy at a Yamie dealer, he said Yamaha has the best "FILL" rate out of all the 4 company's witch meens there stuff is the least back ordered of them all, I know this doesnt help your cause but I thought everyone should know that.
