My wife's sled is a 16 Apex XTX. I'm riding a 17 SW LTX LE, so plenty of opportunity to ride both. She is 4'11" and 150 lbs, so for her the rider forward (SW) has her sliding forward on the seat and on the gas tank most of the time. The XTX rider style with power steering is a much easier and more comfortable sled for her to ride. Typically we ride 120 - 160 miles a day, all in the U.P. Last season she logged 1,700 miles on the single shot with the original shock, hated it, was ready to trade the sled in after one season. Right at the end of the year, we upgraded to the new air shock and the difference is night and day. Originally, even set at the lowest rec. PSI the rebound was constantly slapping her butt and bouncing her off of the seat. No compliance on stutter bumps. The updated shock dramatically changed this. It is much more compliant, has more tuning options for rider weight. As of today she has 2,800 miles on the XTX, combined with the power steering and the ride quality now, she see's no reason to update. Additionally, she is running on the original hyfax and belt, 2 oil changes and lovin it. Performance wise, she has seen 104 on the GPS compared to my SW 109 GPS. My SW is on it's second set of hyfax and third belt. She has had zero warranty claims/work. (Other than updating the shock) My SW has had, flat spotted rollers, leaked coolant and lost turbo pressure thru a cracked boot and overheats way faster and more often than the XTX. That being said, I am also very satisfied with the SW. The issues I've had were all addressed quickly by my dealer (Meyer's in Ishpeming) and have not caused any lost riding time. Great customer service. Bottom line, we both like our sleds completely.
Is the Apex a 1.75 or 1.25 lug?

My 2016 is the 1.75 lug. Curious as to how much top end I'm losing to the 1.25. I've seen 101 on the gauge a few times.

I went from a 1.25 studded to a 1.6 ice cobra. In order to do that they had to change the drivers. I lost about 10 mph top end. I'm thinking of changing the gears to get it back. My gas mileage has gone down accordingly. That now has a lot of useless power down though in my opinion. It does hook about a thousand times better than it used to.

So, you're not happy with giving up the 1.25 lug overall?

No, I'm happy I made the switch. I really had no idea I had so much track spin with the 1.25 track. With 1.6 track and Mohawk skis my off-trail capability has significantly increased.
There are just a few drawbacks to that can be corrected.
-lower top mph (gearing can fix that)
-lower fuel mileage (gearing can fix that)
- my speedometer and odometer became inaccurate (fixed that by filing two teeth off the pickup sensor. Now it is within 1% of GPS readings)

- 2016 RS Vector XTX 1.25 Lug wifes..2013 RS Vector LTX.. 2003 600 VMax Past Machines 3-2007 Attaks 1-2010 Vector LTX.. sorry no Stinkdoos or poo's cats.
Rode my new leftover 16 vector xtx 80 miles this week..heading out thursday for another run. I can honesty say it's the cats meow compared to my 07 Attaks with big boy springs..and wifes 13 vector xtx.. I know more thursday. But I've rode 20,000 miles on Attaks and no other machines really.. so I was pleased that it is so much better all around. Never having rode one and taking a chance I'd like it.

I have 1700 km on my 2018 XTX and love it.
Groomed trail rider, no off trail stuff yet
swapped out the 1.75 for a 1.35 ice attack.
i have yet to make a suspension adjustment, only noted factory settings.
230 lbs in skid shock.
I weigh about 180 lbs with gear on
Hands down better than my 2008 LTX which I loved and rode for 31000km.

Glad to hear and it's just not me alone here... I'm heading out tomorrow for the 2nd ride.. so many of the Yamaha pros have gone over to Sidewinder this forum is slower... then years ago.. Hope the SS crowd hangs in for us..I've tried like heck to find some info on studding the 146 pattern wise.. no luck..
