ya one pic has side panels and the other doesnt...and will they have hooks this yr???

im still thinking i will buy an 07 and save some coin....

Disappointed Yamaha did not address the open tunnel or radiator intake. Both big complaint areas from guys who have ridden their '07's alot in various conditions...(thanks, Yellowknife). I fully expected to order a new '08 after they fixed this problematic area.

I went to their website and spent an hour comparing the new '08 to the '07 Mtn Lite. Mostly bad news.

The '08 is no lighter. It has a new skid in the rear, completely. Why, I don't know. It looks like the same skid is in the other Mtn sleds as well. A large blowup pic is on the photo gallery. It looks, in a word, cheap. Much more so than the '07. The rear suspension travel is 1" less on this new skid. Another boner: the fuel capacity dropped from 8 to 7 gallons. Whats up with this?

I think the way to go is buy an '07, which should be available for a good discount about now. Close off the tunnel and hope for the best.

Makes no sense to get an '08. And, it lists for $200 more. Go figure.

Disappointed in Yamaha personally. Thats just my take....

Hey I spend $125 and installed the side panals on my FX as soon as they made them, I have had no Issues at all on water or powder...

Invest alittle and be happy!!!!!!

hate to tell you guys this but closing off both holes did not solve the problem for me. I ride in the UP of Michigan on mostly logging roads exploring the territory. I am in the powder 95% of the time. I closed off both holes and the snow that comes over the footboard while carving hard still compacts and freezes under your feet. Closing the holes is not the fis we are looking for. I read posts with guys saying all is fixed and I have to assure they are on the trails. Any machine in powder while carving will scoop up snow on the footboards. Machines with heatexchangers do not have this problem. I will say that covering the holes does help significantly but not the fix I expected. In fact, I am gonna partially open them, add the side pannels that Yamaha gave me because I complained aggressivly about the problem and modify the foot area

I think closing the holes is more to improve the ice build up in the tunnel..
As for the running boards... you could get snow eliminators..
that would work. Heck even with heat exchangers, my XCR still would build up from time to time...

Yeah, you gotta stop and kick the snow out of the running boards a lot on this sled, but, hey, whatch ya gonna do? Aren't heated boards vulnerable? I already smashed my left board in once. Would I have been stranded if it was heated?
