Chain Tensioner Mount Wear?

Mine was doing the same thing. I put the Pefi tensioner on. Very nice part , quality made a little overkill and pricey. U really only need a bronze bushing and steel sleeve on the stock tensioner. One of members on this site made one I recently lost access to my lathe otherwise I would have made my ow

I am installing this right now. When you installed yours what part did you bottom out? It states “Hand tighten until bottoms out” I just unsure if it’s the little spring and cap I’m looking to bottom out or, the bolt?? I tried each way and hard to tell and don’t want to button it up until I’m certain it’s correct.

The way I took the instructions was hand tighten the tensioner bolt till it stops then back out the one turn

I got an answer back this afternoon from Pefi. They said to tighten just until that cap seats itself then back out 1 turn. Should look like this if I can attach a picture.

Isn’t the cap bottomed at that point or will it compress In further? It would be kinda hard to adjust without the chaincase cover off otherwise.

In the photo of mine I took, the cap is sticking out maybe 1/6” or tad more. That’s exactly one full turn from it being seated. They seen the same photo and said that I had it correct. With the bolt done all the way in then backed out a turn, the chain was really tight and the cap was stuck in.

But ya, nearly impossible without being able to see what your doing for it to be done correctly.

IDK - but from years of watching adjusting my chain tension on 300+ HP, I still do tighten all the way in by hand/fingers, then out 1-1/4 turn. Lock nut. Much easier if one has a "small-body" performance muffler that can be left in place while doing adjustment.

Ya wish I would have gotten the 3” Sandale heartbreaker instead of the hyperflow for that reason. Much more room to work down there

Damn, that's a nice looking part.
I know that I don't need one, but I really want one!
I can't seem to stop pouring money into my sleds....
