Anybody have a Reverse Issue??? Still Works But.....

I dont mind a Issue Once in a while as long as it does get back into drive so I can ride home, A Few times my REV's Stall out going back out of Reverse so I guess its the Nature of the machines

went by my dealer today. no reports of this problem and no service bulletin from yamaha

HELLO YAMAHA. YOU OUT THERE????

i also found out the front phazer emblem that everyone is loosing is like $26 bucks!!!!

ahahaha! That's funny.

Well I'm giving my dealer written feedback on the mountain lite on a weekly basis that he says he's giving to his yamaha rep.

The more feedback the better - get on those phones and call YAMAHA directly.

I had the not engaging issue this weekend. We were on our way to our land from where we are camping now and had to break a trail in any where from 4" to 8" of snow and at one point my whole front end was buried and pushin snow as if I had a plow on the thing. I found that only when breaking trail if I stopped to put the sled in reverse it would only blink the R light but then finally kick into gear after about 10-15 seconds. I would do the same thing with it when switching out of R to D. I never had to shut it off but at times gave it a little bit of throttle or pulled the sled back or forwards. Didn't have any problems today with it though or the rest of yesterday when we were doing groomed trail riding. Only noticed it when I was cuting a trail.

i gotta say unfortunately that is normal and not too big of a deal for me.. my problem is that the 1st 2-3 hours of the day i have turn the sled off and on and then switch into reverse after a few seconds or it wont engage. same thing when going back into drive. it seems like the button is dead! thanks for the info

That's exactly what happens to me, its a pain!

Not as bad as the other issue some guys are having though by the sounds of it.

It is the same way on all the Yamaha mechanical reverse sleds as well. Sometimes the gears are just not aligned properly and you have to rock the sled back or forward slightly to get them aligned properly for engagement.

So yammi's does this, BRP's and Polaris' can stall, what about arctic cats new diamond drive reverse? Does anyone have reverse perfected yet?

When I was getting stuck with the Mtn Lite, I couldn't rock it back and forth in the deep snow, that's where it really became frusterating.

I keep hearing people say, when they are breaking trail in deep snow and get stuck, the reverse doesn't work. When was the last time anyone got a sled unstuck from real snow with the use of reverse? It tends to bury you more, doesn't it? I figure if you can't rock it, you probably are stuck beyond reverse.

On a related note, my reverse did not work today, but I attribute that to the fact I tried to use it prior to the high idle warm-up going off.

I still am 100% confident, that if your belt, chain adj., and engine idle are all in sync then you will not have issues with the reverse. Although, if nothing happens when you push the button, I say yamaha owes you a new instrument pod, or reverse servo sending unit............

When that happens, walk around to rear of tunnel and pick it up and push it down. A couple times is all
it should take- is still frustrating but is worth it because, yes it does help to back up a little when stuck-
it makes a little ramp for the track- you can start moving forward taking it easy on throttle, maybe pushing from
side, then punch her out.

$7300.00 and the thing will not go into reverse without rocking or moving the sled. I could not even get it to back off the trailer the first day I brought it home. TOTAL PAIN IN THE #*$&@!!! Yamaha needs to address this problem. Having to rock or move the sled just to get it to shift is a joke. I for one am getting tired of all of these little intricacies on my brand new sled.

i'll second that. i'm seriously considering buying a different brand sled next year. i like my mtn lite, but i have some major issues that aren't getting attention. i'm seriously getting tired of having to rock or pull/push the sled to get it in gear while breaking trail.. as a brand new sled owner, this is something i didn't expect. i guess i can deal with that, but the other problems are making me think i made the wrong decision when i was seraching for a new sled this year.

the worst problem is the reverse button is useless and doesn't work 90% of the time. when unloading the sled i have to turn it off after warming it up just to get it into reverse. sometimes this works, sometimes not... then if i don't switch back to drive fast enough i'm stuck in reverse and forced to turn the sled off and back on again to get it into drive. ths is weak sauce yamaha!!!!. i told my dealer of this problem and they just looked at me with a blank stare... oh well, maybe i'll buy an artic cat next year and get rid of this mtn lite...

Mine has been fine, although the last ride, it began not working, push the button and nothing not even a blink...

this is the 5 or 6th person that i've seen having the same problem. dead button, reverse no worky...

Yeah I gotta say this is definitely crap. Picking up the rear of the sled, all these idea's, they shouldn't need to be done in the first place but I appreciate the suggestions. At least with 2 stroke electronic reverse doesn't work, you just press the start button again, its effortless, no rocking or lifting.

I get unstuck 90% of the time by using reverse! You only need it to move a couple of inches back, then you can punch the throttle in forward again and it climbs over the mountain of snow it is plowing in the front. This method works very well on the mountain lite with such big lugs on the track and a high tunnel.
