Anybody wear prescription glasses while riding?

Wish ai could do lasic, but would need new lenses. The doc trlls me to pray for cataracs so insurance will cover! I think I will live happily with what I have!!

I use a gmax modular helmet w/heated shield and built in sun visor and really like it. Started with a regular helmet and what a PITA having to take off glasses every time taking helmet off/on. IMO modular helmet is a must if wearing glasses. My trick for avoiding fogging is to use a no-fog cloth on glasses and sun visor before I head out. No-fog cloths cost like $2 and are reusable for a long time... Been using the same one for 3 years and it still works. Cheap fogging solution for anyone.

I've used the ski doo modular, modular 2, and now the bv2s and they are the way to go if you must ride with glasses. BV2S is best helmet made imo, comfortable and warm. Breath mask is softer and easier on the face than modular series.

LASIK was the way to go for me! No more dry cold contacts and glasses fogged like crazy. For this sport and scuba diving this was the best choice! Now my face is warm, no cracking the helmet to prevent fogging and resultant frostbite.

Before LASIK, contacts was the only wat to go, glasses fogged no matter what!

If it is not extermly cold (above 0) I wear my glasses that have transision lenses (auto-tint) which is nice on snowblind days. I can crack my shield on my SnoForce Modular and they dont fog. If it is very cold, then I wear my contacts, however being an old man I have to wear two differnt lenses so I can see distance and close up so I can read the menu at food stops.....sucks getting old.

This site is the best. I wanted to thank everyone who responded to this post. I wear glasses for driving and could never stop the fogging while sledding. I ride with a full face heated shield. I went without last season and could not read the dash pod, not good in case something were to happen with the sled. After looking at all of my options as far as money, extra work, convenience, I opted for contacts. Had my appointment yesterday, got fitted and tried them on for about 4 hours. I could easily drive with them and almost as good as my glasses. I believe these are going to be the answer for me, seeing I would only use them for ridding the sled. I will use them more this week to test, but I think I can live with them. Contacts don't solve every eye problem, but I had to eliminate 100% of the fogging. No fun going into a corner and fogging up, it is not pretty. I will post when I have more information.

Awesome bostonrx1! I agree and also want to thank everybody. I am heading to the optometrist too the for the same thing.....my first attempt at putting contacts in my eyes.

It does take practice, but not half as bad as what I thought. I will wear them today since I am picking up my sled and will report back.

I am at the age where I also need glasses. But I have huge fogging issues. I have 4 different helmets w/electric shields, they all fog up. Last season I got a bad case of frost bite (scarred now) by leaving the shield up, which I do most of the time. I have a large noggin. I've used all of the snake oils on my shields with no luck. I cannot fit the mouthpiece into my 3x mod 1 helmet and close it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Get to a doo dealership and try the bv2s Indy, there is a lot not room and adjustability with the bv2s breath mask that the mod 1 or mod 2. With a properly working breath mask you shouldn't have any fogging of glasses or main shield and shouldn't need electric.

Contacts

This chat back and forth reminds me what i went through went through recently. I wear glasses full time and have tried using them on the sled with an open face mx helmet and closed face.

At one point or another there were fogging issues, so now i just suck it up and pop the contacts in for the day. its a nice break to get the glasses off your face. On longer hauls I keep a spare pair of lenses on me incase one 'blinks' out (a rare occurance, but can happen). I also keep some drops with me to keep the lenses moist. Those cold dry winter days dries the lenses out.
Food for thought.

I've gone through several helmets over the years trying to keep my glasses from fogging. HJC cl-10 cl-12 both sucked for fogging. I always had to ride with the visor cracked a little. Once it was dark it was all over. Gmax modular kept the the glasses from fogging but the helmet itself was very cold. Last year I used the CKX modular. Worked really good didn't fog up and the shield stayed clear also. Has a flip down sun visor that works good. I've added an electric shield this year for night riding. Only time I had trouble was riding at night after getting unstuck.

Well for those who care, I used my contacts all day yesterday for about 12 hours. I loved them. 98% of the time I did not know they were there. I worked outside/inside driving/watching TV and no issues whatsoever. I now believe I can sled and see. I will agree that the extra work getting them in and out and cleaning is a pain because it is extra work compared to the glasses, but seeing clearly in the woods at 50+ MPH is priceless. In fact I liked them so much, I might consider using them instead of my glasses going forward. A very positive move for me. Best of luck with you decision.

I have one, or my wife and oldest daughter both have one. They do not make one large enough for my head. If I cant stop the fogging, then I think I am going to sell the sleds and all. After the frostbite last year and the big scar under and around my right eye, its not worth it. I just dont understand why my heated shields wont do the job? I've looked into putting some type of fan into the helmet to keep the air circulating across the shield.

I've tried the skidoo mod 1 (tried 2 seperate shields), Hjc with shield, and artic cat BMX looking helmet with shield, and the polaris mod with heated shield, all fogged up. I've used different baclava's and face masks, no luck. Many different types of goo, sprays, cloths, and even one called cat crap, nothing works for me.

I did purchase a film that skiers put in thier goggles a few years ago, but still have not tried it yet. I always keep all vents open, isnt that correct?
