Anybody wear prescription glasses while riding?

I have had poor (distance) vision for quite a few years and just a few months ago I failed my eye exam renewing my drivers license. So now I am the brand new owner/wearer of glasses. Ill tell ya its a world of difference though. I can't believe how it cleared things up. Anyway now I am worried about fogging issues. I have both a full face with heated shield and an MX style with goggles. Does anyone have experience with this? Does one helmet style work better than the other? What about at night when temps really drop? Am I better off just getting contacts? Will the glasses be a constant headache? is it not big deal?
Thanks in advance! Btw i'm a 46 yr old who likes aggressive trail riding as well as off trail if that matters- I don't do mellow pleasure riding

I also wear prescription glasses. Tried full face and MX helmets with goggles. My choice? MX helmet with goggles for sure! Never had issues with fogging ever. If you get the right style of goggles, you won't even know the glasses are on your face. I've used the Smith goggles in the past with a Shift helmet. They fit over my glasses real well. This year I switched to the 509 aviators with a 509 helmet. They also feel good but havn't had a chance to ride yet. No f#@$ing snow! I'm a performance trail rider that rides in Wisconsin and the U.P. The glasses to me are not a pain at all.

I would go with contacts. Glasses FOG and are very uncomfortable with any helmet. I wear an open face helmet and never had a problem with contacts.

If you can wear contacts I would say that they would probably be less hassle but I wear glasses and really have very few problems. I have used full face and modular and the modular is way better as you can leave the unit up until ready to go and lift it as soon as you stop as those are the times that you would fog with glasses. The other thing I found that REALLY helped me is to pitch the breath deflector, it would fog me right away. My glasses have the auto tint and I really like that in the afternoon. Good luck.

I have over ten years on you and been wearing glasses nearly all my life. I do use a helmet with a heated visor. I don't have much problem with fogging, but when I stop the shield goes up and once I'm under way the shield goes done. If I'm working hard you will need to make sure that the vents are open. I even ride sometimes with my shield cracked open some. I find that if I can keep the air moving I have a better chance of not fogging. I also have friends that have the Ski-Doo modular helmet and swear by them. They are pricey, but sometimes you can find a deal on ebay. I also find that if I get into the deeper stuff and start working (sweating) and the snow hits the helmet I have to stop and take care of that. I also considered contacts, but there was no way I was going to stick my finger in my eye at my age and this was a long time ago. I even had cataract surgery hoping I could go without glasses, but that didn't work out either. I still need glasses just not at thick.

I'm 66, and wear glasses when I ride. I have always used the Skidoo Mod Helmet, then, went to the Mod 2 when it came out. My glasses are fine with the face mask in that type of helmet, and I don't have a problem with the shield fogging up, or my glasses either. It is one the most user friendly modular helmets if you wear glasses when you ride. Like you said, you can also go with contacts, and keep the same helmets you have now.

I used to wear contacts but then got lazy and went back to glasses. Once I started riding sleds I had a full face shield and I had to ride most of the time with the visor up. Then I went to a goggle style helmet and every time I came to a stop my glasses would fog up again. This happened even more while it was snowing. Maybe I am usually very warm while riding so that may be the reason for the constant fogging.

I finally went back to contacts for while riding. If you can wear contacts imo it is the way to go. I buy a box of contacts for the winter and it last me a season of riding.

Try it out first. The mx style helmet was definitely a major improvement over the visor helmet. For me it was not enough to keep the fogging away, it does work for others.

If you wear glass while riding put some loctite in the screws of the glasses.

My battle with glasses didn't end until I got Lasik eye surgery. Totally changed the sledding experience. The only downside to the lasik surgery was that it made my eyes more light sensitive. On bright sunny days I needed to wear sunglasses or the light was so bright I could barely see. That brought back the fogging glasses issue once in a while on the coldest days, but usually it was warm enough during the day that it wasn't too bad. COLD days and sunglasses were a real battle - until I switched to the SkiDoo BV2S helmet. The neoprene seal around the neck keeps the temp inside the helmet warm enough that fogging isn't an issue. As an aggressive rider, you will be pushing the envelope with the amount of human humidity you generate. It sounds like "ride slow and breath easy" aren't in your game plan. Hope you find a solution that works for you.

If you can wear contacts it is the way to go no doubt. If you wear glasses on trail BRP mod the way to go. I can't wear contacts so rode without glasses to avoid fogging. I passed drivers license test without glasses but my right eye is getting real bad so glasses go back on this year. Good luck but fogging will be a problem so you just need to work at it spare mask, spare glasses, lots of pads ...keep venting & hope for the best. Sorry but this is the reality of glasses.

As a glasses wearer, I can say they are a pain in *ss. Ran full face helmets for years with heated shields, that helped alot, but still had to crack the visor just a little for some air flow most of the time. Went to the BRP Mod 2, helmet a couple years ago, and like it the best for a full face helmet, had their Mod 1 for a year, it was not the thing to wear with glasses. If you could go contacts, I would do that. I used them when I was younger and really liked them. Now I'm like Nick 1945, just to old to stick my finger into my eye.
