Anybody wear prescription glasses while riding?

I wear contacts now and would never go back to wearing glasses and my ski-doo modular helment.

The ski-doo modular with the mouth piece I find uncomfortable wearing to prevent my glasses from fogging up and also I have gotten frost bite twice around the mouth piece.

So much more comfortable with contacts, and this year I have one of those helmets with the flip down sun visor, missed that feature on my ski-doo modular.

I've suffered from the same problem for years. I finally broke down and got contacts just for snowmobiling. However previous to that, a friend let me borrow his skidoo modular for a day. This is the one helmet I could comfortably wear eyeglasses in without the glasses fogging up. As many have already said, it si a spendy option. I purchased a polaris modular helmet as it was about $150 cheaper than the skidoo, but similar in design. It wasn't quite as good as the Skidoo, but for the most part it worked and I usually didn't have issues with my eyeglasses fogging. My biggest issue with the Ploaris helmet is every time I wore it, I would come back with frostbite on some part of my neck or chin. I finally got contacts and went back to my old snow force 1 helmet.

I've worn glasses for about 25 years - the best thing I've had so far is a decent modular helment. I've had the same one over 5 years and it only fogged on me once when I was overdressed and trying to navigate through 6' drifts during a snowstorm.

That said, I don't like the weight of my modular and wanted to try the MX setup so I bought an over the glasses goggle with a fan on it, tried it once last year but I accidentally fogged it before I even got started - I guess I need to get quicker at putting them on and getting going. Will try again this year.

My brother hates his contacts when riding, he ends up taking them out - the cold air dries his eyes out and makes it uncomfortable.

how about sending your sheild out and have them set for your eyes, my buddy did this for diving and work good. looks like just us older crowd is coming up with good ideas. were are the young guns?

I wore glasses my whole life and never got used to contacts. The doo modular helmet was the best thing I ever bought. Never ever fogged up because the mask evacuates all of your breath before it ever gets a chance too get to your glasses. There are 3 different modular helmuts so I would test fit and see which one is the most comortable. I have the original one but that is just my taste. The flip down sun visor is great also. Seen some great bargains on these at snow shows. ;)!

i have worn glasses since i was 12 and still do at 37. i now have an hjc mod that is pretty nice but i ride without the breath deflector in as it fogs my glasses worse. i started out with an open face whitch i never had a fogging problem with on older sleds with tall windy. when i went to full face helmet, i found the trick was to use antifog on the visor and the glasses. at -40c i have to keep my visor plugged in and play with the draft from visor opening to keep clear but it can be done. still need to open the visor every stop and when going slow but once the helmet heats up i am fine. because i have astigmatism i cannot use contacts.

i would reccomend the auto tint on your lenses as it saves having to put your sunglasses on/off and it really helps going in an out of the trees.

I cant see my hand in front of my face without glasses. Contacts no good, I have to have torric lenses, when you work on a sled or engine, etc its like someone is adjusting binocculers

I have been using the Doo modular and now modular 2. for about 10 years now. These are great for glasses. The only thing better is the MOD2 with an electric shield for the frozen rain days.

Been riding a long time - over 40 years now? I had Lasik done in '04 - strictly because I was sick and tired of screwing with glasses while out riding my sleds. That would be 35 years worth of nothing but aggravation! I've been there, done that trying to make them work with a full face helmet of any kind.

Trust me, if there's any way you can swing it financially you'll never regret it. I have no reason to BS anyone about this. People with problems of any kind afterward are not the norm. I had this done with a lot of the people I worked with at the time. None of us had/have any lasting long term side effects. If you're holding back or have reservations for that reason, you owe it to yourself to check into it further...

Well I have a similar issue but a little unique. I wear contact in right eye and glasses over top for distance. Much thinner glasses. I been thinking about mx but I think 1 I would freeze and get tired of adjusting gear to be comfortable. 2. I get dry eyes like crazy just add in some cold air and wearing my contact is miserable.

THE ONLY THING THAT HAS WORKED is BVS2 ski doo helmet or Ski doo modular 2. Best helmets you can buy for people with glasses many others swear by em. Money well spent and very comfortable no problems staying warm bvs2 has one way valve to let exhausted hot moist air out. No fog even sitting still with the mask adjusted on a angle and tightened to the max.
My brother, dad and I all wear glasses. had heated shields on hjc full faces they sucked. Fog all the time on glasses and had to ride with helmet cracked.

2 years my dad and I are using BVS2 ski doo
great helmet. No fog and adjust on the fly by turning gray knob on mask.
2 years for my brother on ski doo modular 2. He is happy.

google imaged the bvs2 gives you idea of the helmets design.

I would love lasiks! I have no reservations....but I also don't have the dough at this time. After reading all the replies, I either need a Mod 2 helmet if I wear glasses, or get contacts and ill stick with MX/goggles set up. I want lasik without question, ill have to see if I can swing it next year.....problem is....I want a new sled next year too
