A few hundred motors are running around without it by Millenium's estimate.

Will I damage my motor running it this way ?

I really don't think so. Millenium has over 200 motors out there right now that they figure are missing this restrictor. If it was going to be a big problem I think it would have come up before now.
As it is (without the restrictor) you are getting way more oil to the carrier bearing that it requires. Only possible concern is that with too much oil going to one part of the engine there might not be enough going to another part. But gain, if this was the case I think we'd all know by now.

Re: milenium
Sorry to hear about your grief. the restrictor (or lack of one actually) won't make it use more oil.

I had an 05 rx done at Atelier Bernards in Quebec.
They did the same thing. Those are" piston squirts". They spray oil up on the bottom of the piston. Without having them there,it will just dump oil through the hole too easily and not have as much oil pressure on the main bearings. That squirt is the restrictor that keeps the proper pressure there.
I was running Fundy High rpm camshafts. It had started doing more oil blowby than normal out of the crank case vent ...and eventually threw a rod out of the block before It was found that the reason was the "piston squirt" was missing from a re-nicasil job.....robbing oil pressure from the bearing.
You may get away with it for a while on a stocker,....but suit yourself...I would want them in there.

helix those piston squirters are different than what we are talking about.if you look at the engine rebuild at the top of this section by lakercr, pic #43 third hole to the right side of top motor mount.its a small brass restrictor that feeds the carrier bearing.this is how i look at it.yamaha put it there for a reason.it restricts oil to the carrier bearing to keep more oil at the crankshaft.at 10,500 rpm i want as much oil at the crank as i can get.i will feel better knowing that all parts that were in there from the factory will still be there after my rebuild.just my .02
Ahh,sorry,didn't read the whole thing.
From the experiance I had,...I would agree,I would still want them in there.

what size orfice is this restrictor
and can one tape threads and
install a jet into this hole
(without this it may not spray enough oil
on the bottoms of the cylinders)
thanks for any info
