Anyone Have Cheap Insurance in NY. I have a Nytro and many insurance co. does not like to insure 973cc or higher. I'm 15 and my insurance is $4,500. My dad put the insurance in his name and saved a lot of money but we got caught. Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Got my insurance through a place called Bob Putnam Agency. They have a few offices around here (Speculator, Glens Fall, etc) They are a broker and got it through Nationwide Insurance. For my 06 Apex RTX, full collision and 500.00 deductible and it was about 335.00 for the year. After seeing what Progressive wanted (1,000), it was definitely a welcomed change. ;)!

Found this on another site called ilsnow.com. An excellent site. Use it all the time. Great trail condition reports as well as other issues. http://www.ilsnow.com/html/putnam_agency.html - Tell them that you found them on this site and they will treat you right!

Good luck.

Unfortunately, it is registered to me. However I am 39, so I doubt my dad would cover me  Would be nice though. Will have to talk to him :D. You are right though, your age definitely will have an affect on the price. However 4,500.00 ridiculous. I gave them a call, they took all the info over the phone and they were back to me with a price within an hour, so definitely will not hurt to try.

I would have your dad call them and then indicate you will also be driving it. That is what we did with my wife. Since you are under 16 though, that may not be an option. Not sure how all those rules work. Even if you insure it, I would bet anything that it will not be close to 4,500. Gee, 15 and you have your own nytro? Sweet. Ever consider getting a big brother? :-o

Let me know what they say. Everyone raves about them, so would be interested to see what they do for a situation like yours.

Well heres the deal..My dad called the agency and they were suprised we were calling in april..you go figure. No one was available to talk to so my dad left his name and all that jazz..They have not called back, its been like 3 hours. :o| I think its because we live in NJ & they only insure NY residents, only thing is that my parents own a house in Old Forge..
:ORC
See what happens..

P.S. : Scotto have always considered an older bro. I'm an only child, people say I'm lucky. ;)!

I live in jersey and my dad owns a place in NY and we never have a problem. I'm trying to think what insurance carrier i have :o| . But anyway last year i only put liablility on my sled and it was under $100 and i was 19. 60 something but don't quote me. At the time i was completly broke so i didn't go for full coverage was going to when the snow came but it never really came. So no upgrading for me.

Is anything cheap in NY?

The owner of the Buffalo Bills! LOL

I just had to shop for ins. on for my new Apex. I read a few posts a while back on this forum and realized my premium on a 2005 F7 was sky high. I was paying $650 full coverage or $349 for just liability(fire and theft) through American Modern Ins(through a broker). I asked my brother who he was using for his F7 and he recommended I call State Farm. That same F7 is $246 a year(full cov and $500 deduc) and the Apex is $272(full cov and $500 deduc). I switched immediatly...but feel ripped off and pretty stupid for not shopping around. I lnow you are young but i would suggest shopping around. Oh yeah, one other thing, they never asked who (who being me and my wife) would be riding which sled. Therefore, I would have your dad call and add you as another driver of the sled.

RXL95, Toms River thats pretty close to where I live. I live in Warren. Anyways, I found insurance that did not care if I was 15 or not. Total cost was about $994(About how much my parents pay for there sleds).

Thanks guys for all the help.

Ouch. These prices are outrageous! Can you insure through someplace like Liberty Mutual? I don't live in NY but pay 160/year full coverage. 'Course you have to have auto insurance through them also, but their rates are low for cars too. How about www.progressive.com?

No progressive..They wanted $4,500 from me for 1 year.

NO KIDDING? They were my last company and it was 204.00 per year. I think I'd go back to used 10 year old sleds if insurance ever got anywhere near that bad.

I am insured with State Farm. I have cars, homeowners, boats, and sleds with them. My 05 RX1 with $500 deductible is around $365. I have had claims on my sled as well.

Progressive was the company that wanted to charge me 1,000.00 for full insurance and a 1,000.00 deductible also :moon: My insurance broker did try to slip it under my homeowners, but they balked at the 1000 cc's. They would only deal with 700s or less.

Must be NY - seems like everything is overpriced! For those of us who live here, definitely not a shock to hear that. :ORC Some other places people have said were not bad were Nationwide, Metlife and State Farm. Shop 'em all before making a decision. At least you have some time (unfortunately)
