The cat guys are all saying that there procross chassie handles better with there old zuk mill than some of there friends with the vipers with the 1049 mill mounted higher, and they all think there new thunderkitty will have ill handling with the new yammie mill compared to there twin POS,what do you guys who have run the viper with the aftermarket turbos feel.

They are dead wrong. I will kill a Cat Turbo handling and especially if there is bumps involved. The T-cat is front heavy worse than a Nytro. That makes it a boring sled which is upset in the bumpy corners because you have a hard time getting the front end light. I dont know about you but it is a rare day when no bumps are found. Same reason I never bought a Apex. My Phazer could outrun most Apex in bumpy corners and talk about a top heavy sled! No worries. Relax. Next year go hunt them down.

I ride with a guy who has an 1100 turbo and I smoke him in the tight trails, but he flies by me in the straights. It's all about setting it up right, people say a nytro doesn't handle but I could have proved them all wrong.

My nytro with axis shocks can out handle any yamaha sled lol with out trying or other brands trail riding

I think I can share some thoughts on the topic. Firstly don't let anyone fool you into thinking the 14-15 Vipers handle better than a turbo cat they don't. Been there done that owned them both and put lots of miles on them both.

That being said 2016 was a different year for both again. I cannot offer first hand experience with the 2016 Viper but I can offer some testimonial a friend of mine has given regarding his 14-16. In his words he hates his 14 and would rather not ride it. The ride and handling on the 16 with the QS3 (Extremely important) shocks makes ALL the difference in the world regarding handling.

Myself I spent the season (4200 miles) on a 129" turbo limited cat. The ride and handling are among the best I have ever had. My last sled was a 2015 XRS Renegade 800 for comparison which has the benchmark R-motion suspension. I would stand behind saying the 2016 cat I had was / is the best handling sled I have ever swung a leg over ever. I would also stand by saying the ride is almost as good as the R-motion almost.

My personal experience regarding the Viper was in the form of a 2014 LTX SE. The sled never handled well, especially at high speed always wanting to high side regardless of setup or skis. I am sure with suspension upgrades or changes it could be made better but with the parts available in 14 it was not in the cards.

To many variables like studs and how many? Carbides and how long? Ski type or design? Snow condition? Shocks and how they are set up? Dealer setup and do you make adjustments? Type of track and length? Get the picture?

I'm coming off an srx 700 and everybody knows how well those things handle when setup properly. My 16 viper handles almost like an srx with comfort in the rear. I still have the stock 2" carbides and standard runners on my sled. Next year I'll be upgrading to good carbides and will be experimenting with setup. I can't compare to any cats or 14-15 vipers but my 16 ltx dx handles very well. I'm hoping it will handle better than my old srx next season!

The LTX 137 compared to an RTX 129 will handle completely different out of the box!

In my experience on the trail, I have never had a turbo cat pass me, push me, keep up, or even be seen after a few turns. I must not have ever run into the right guys on the trail then... Isn't keyboard racing fun!?:die Any sled that is set up for the one driving can be fast and fun. Until you roll up on somebody who feels the same as you, "I'm fast! Nobody can keep up with me!"

Very true. Handling is a very broad topic and then skills and conditioning also come into play. I guess I feel really good physically and have been looking for victims last few rides! Complete confidence in my sled.

Never had a problem keeping anybody at bay, and that's on a 15 VIPER RTX DX, any make or model. Imo these vipers out handle and are most comfortable sled on the snow, and yup, even when the trails are more like a snow cross track and a lot were snowcross tracks this season.

That's what I was hoping someone would say,i will be turkey hunting for green and black feathers and some tar!!

I must say the 15 Viper LTX SE (Turbo) is great on the bumps, I love it. As far as the turns go, I find myself really having to work at getting the machine to turn or not go on one ski. I have the front Ski pressure at 65psi. The rear suspension is set on the softest setting. I have dual carbides 6inch and 4inch inner if memory serves me correctly. I will continue to work on it. Love the turbo that's for sure!!

Send me your rear shocks and see what you think then. Simple revalve takes care of both handling and the bumps. Night and day difference. So technically yes in stock form a 14 or 15 Turbo Cat might outhandle a 14 or 15 Viper because they both had issues. But not mine and not any of the guys I ride with.
