seen some past threads on this but the but dont see them for sale. not concerned about just changing it but something that holds it open while removing belt debri if it blows. barn of parts has something for 100 bucks but was wondering if theres another option that is cheaper or if its even needed? i thought once you open it up it kinda locks in place. first season w this one so

I would Highly recommend getting one. It is possible to get the belt on and off without one, but if you blow a belt and have to dig the Reminence of your belt out of your clutch, that tool is priceless.seen some past threads on this but the but dont see them for sale. not concerned about just changing it but something that holds it open while removing belt debri if it blows. barn of parts has something for 100 bucks but was wondering if theres another option that is cheaper or if its even needed? i thought once you open it up it kinda locks in place. first season w this one so

If I'm working in the garage, I just use a long ratchet with a 12mm socket on 1 of the nuts and turn the secondary clutch CW, (with the brake locked) then push to compress the spring and open the sheaves. Doesn't cost anything.
Maybe not the most practical strategy when on the trail however.
