Anyone that is on the ropes about weather to gut there apex/attack exhaust or go after market, save your money and do this mod! The sound is great! Just finished doing mine and my buddies attacks and am very happy to have not spent any money! The job will take some time but is worth it. Thanks for all the replies to my earlier questions regarding this mod.

I notice that everyone did the mod slightly different. I cut out everything that was in the middle chamber including the perfforated cone. The sound is a deeper slightly louder then stock but not as loud as I would have thought it would be. I am very pleased. I re-welded the Muffler with .030 mild steel wire feed, cleaned it up and painted the welds. All is good
Now if it would only snow some were in Maine, We could try these beasts out ![Banghead :o| :o|](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/banghead.gif)

do you need a fuel controler when gutting your exhaust and adding a air intake

Not for the gutted exhaust but i think u do for intake. And if u do a stainless steel weld u dont need to spray paint it. I had my local exhaust guy wrld it for me for $50, love the sound i have a few sound clips on my thread.

To the top as LukeSJU and I are gutting my exhaust tonight! Should rock with the Excell headers but yet keep the look relatively stock. Looking forward to the awesome sound. Someday I'll get the full kit form Ulmer (Full Excell Exhaust, PC-V, and Air Box Mod), but this'll have to do for a year or two!

How I gutted:
I cut out the center/ inside portions of the 2 main pipes and the Outside portions of the perforated pipes. It should allow the exhaust to still flow through the whole silencer, but more freely. At least that is what I hope is the result. It seems everyone does this mod a tad different and it's a bit of a crap shoot how it turns out.

This is by far my favorite MOD I have done so far! I love the sound and the comments when I pull up to the gas pump or back to the hotel or up to a group of other sledders. I dont feel that it is overly loud but has a great street bike like sound. Bobby if you decide to do the mod and have questions, dont hesitate to ask. Super Sled is great at answering questions and i will be glad to give my two cents as well.. My only critical advise is to ensure that you disconnect that battery and ground properly before welding back up the muffler as to not fry your computer. Good luck and keep us posted on the mod! ![Div20 ;)! ;)!](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/div20.gif)

Thanks , i'll disconect batetery and even unplug cumputer to be sure . i'm used to doing mecanical work on sleds but i'm no welder. I have a freind that will do that for me.
question, when you say ground properly, is there a prefered spot ? my guess is the frame.
thanks .
