Apex hits a wall at 109 MPH on the dreammeter!

I have stock ski pressure... (limiter straps) and have the transfer set for maximum transfer..

Skis dont touch the ground till 100 on the dreammeter

Brian, try sitting. I know you're short but it still causes too much drag 8)

Very funny Dan.. LOL

I was completely ducked under the windshield going slightly down hill and just couldnt get it to go over 109.. (dreammeter speed)

I did keep my buddy on his zr900 behind me the whole time.. but i was expecting to keep pulling away.. and i think he was actually gaining slightly

Seriously, do two things; Make sure the track is tight and get slp anti wear pads. I bet you pick up a few MPH's ;)!

So Mighty, I have my track pretty loose and I watched a guy take it for a quick rip and couldn't believe the way the track was slapping around? I would imagine at high speeds this would definetley cause a loss in top end mph. Are you saying these Apex's like a tighter then usual track?

MyOutdoors, I remember a few years back having some performance work done on a machZ. Once done, we put the sled on a track dyno. Before we fired it up the tuner tightened the track. I asked why he did that and preceeded to show me. I don't remember the numbers but it pulled more HP with the track tight. He loosened it and lost HP.

Maybe it is the way the mono operates, but to me it looked like the track going from the rear axle wheels up into the tunnel by the 2 upper wheels would bounce/flex back and forth. I have my track set just a little looser then what yammy recommends. I'm going to tighten her down and see what I get for results this weekend on the lake. Welt have you played with the track tension? I've been kind of disapointed in my top end also, but I always blame my 280 lb arse! I just got the mid windshield just so I could hide behind it and not act like a sail!

Dumb question, but have you tried running up speed on jack stand to be sure your clutches are right & will let the sled go past the 109. I do like to rev on stand much, but at least you would know that it is physically possible. Just a thought. :o|

That's a very unsafe and stupid thing to do.

Not if you take precautions. If you're scared the sled my bounce off and take off on you, put the skiis up against a wall or something!
