Apex hits a wall at 109 MPH on the dreammeter!

Hardpack and icy sections 2000ft (ish) - 110 on radar, no studs, 50kms, -5C...spinning like a MOFO. (06 Apex ER dead stock)

Slushy 2000ft run - 117.4 on radar, 144 studs, .5" track, lowered and clutched. Stockers where running 109.
All i can think of is like mine when we were unstudded and all stock on hard plowed road,we were racing on we saw 123-128 and 11,000 rpms w/150 miles on new sled, and gps read 108-109 many times we raced,so my conclusion is track spin. Now i know you said you are running a speed track 1/2" lugs, and now studded, but sloppy snow wet at that netted you 7 mph more wow,now thats what i want,we just installed the 1" hacksaw track and only 108 mix of chissles and carbides and ran on piss poor snow/ice wind blown lake and got side ways and tore out one of the chissles that we had on far outside band, and we are repairing it as we speak, and only ran 105 gps up and down from 6-8" wind blown piles of snow to glare ice,was terrible conditions, and my attak is modded, other day with engine overheating and slides sticking it ran 111 gps but have run 112 on snow, not great snow either, but the attak has a hot spot in back between the rear torque arm and the rear idler wheel,i am working on a set of my old style poo add on wheel and block, but yammi added extra material between the rails for support, that is making this a challenge, but it needs it bad,and i am clipping the rest of the unclipped windows, and we are waiting on the viper long track graphit inpregnated slides as they are like the old style srx slides that are not as thick as standard slides, all these mods should net some better speeds on glare ice,if not i will throw on a lube system.

15 passes, ice with snow patches 1-3" deep , 15 degrees F snowing hard. All but 2 runs at 133 on the gauge. The first 2 at 130 .Started with 3/4 tank of gas. Woody's gold diggers 108 down the center. I go 165 lbs.Had to hit about 65 before the track hooked. Ran along side an 05 Venture just to make sure my gauge wasn't haywire and the numbers were real close up to 100 mph give or take 1 or 2 mph. Totally stock.

I can't believe none of you guys aren't chopping one tooth off the speedo gear?!?!!

Who cares...we all know the speedo is out. I can't believe you haven't put silverstars in yet..at least they'll help you see what you're gonna hit lol. :)

Better yet...I can't believe you haven't changed you avatar!!!! Get rid of the POS..you're livin' in the past.

Brian have you run your sled on Glare ice? My sled will only pull 110 10 114 in loose snow. On hard icey snow I've seen 120. On a Icy road ive seen 125. On glare ice 130

Ive hit 123 on a plowed road with more in her. Much faster than my '03 RX1, in 2 years the most I saw was 117.
Hey Mikey, any snow by Erie? Chataqua was a mudfest this weekend.

I rode from Erie to French Creek Thursday nite, it was BEAUTIFUL. Went back to do it again Sunday, it was #*$&@ =(

I chopped 2 gears off mine and now it's a little under I believe, 1 gear off and you're still over. To tell you the truth it does seem slower. All I got to say is that it's confusing reading these posts, so many factors, is the guy quoting speedo speeds, radar or GPS? 109mph does not sound that bad for a top end, but if the guy is quoting what's he saw on his speedo then that is slow for these machines. Otherwise it's not bad and depends very much on conditions and even adjustment on the skid, belt wear etc. Anything between 110 and 115 on radar or gps is pretty good. My RX1 stock would only run 110 on a good day with great conditions.

That's why when I mention speed on MY Apex, I always mention my -1 speedo gear mod.

Yes i did hat a month ago on two of our sleds, its dead on at 45 mph and off by 5-7 mph at top speed, that is why all my speeds i give are gps but at 112 gps its 118 speedo.

It's funny..ALL of the PWC guys only quote GPS speeds. The speedos are about the same as far as accuracy goes so everyone uses a handheld GPS..guys hunt down every last .1 of a mile per hour lol.

No.. i havent... I want it to pull 120+ (dreameter speed) on the trail...

Theses sleds have mega HP.. and pull soo hard to 100 that they should easily pull 110 (real speed) on the trail... but mine doesnt.. In reality it is only pulling 100mph and stops.. and just doesnt make sense

Last year when i had my warrior i saw alot of guys claiming they have seen speeds on the dreammeter as high as 135mph (dremmeter) and my warrior never broke 119.... and my GT has more hp and is lighter and wont pull over 109!

I have also check my belt deflection... center to center and alignment and all is good!

:4STroke: my sled went 109 on the speedo over the weekend but my wheels were shot and my track was to tight also i had more ski pressure for trail riding my sled had 520 miles and the wheels were fine got back to the truck and the inner rear idler wheels had no rubber left 675 miles track tension will make a big difference and so will ski pressure.
