Ok fellas, how do they stack up? I wasn on another forum where a fella was kinda knocking 4 strokes and said there wasn't anything that had the grunt of the Mach Z 1000..he then compared a couple or Yammi touring sleds. I said the Apex was a good sled that could compare...most guys thought I was nuts, but I think with some proper tuning it could be done, I even posted a vid showing an Apex GT beating a Mach Z....so was I wrong?

Them things are fast, it would be a hard run for the apex. Till he blows a belt, most of the giys I knew that own one could only pull 500 miles off a belt. Lol

My buddy I ride with has one and I think they are pretty even on trails we never went on lake though. But they are gas hogs one time we were riding hard and he got 65 miles to a full tank had to pull him to gas station.

a few guys had 2006 mach z's on the lake where i am, the one had bondi work done to it and it flew, the stock 1 was ok, the apex needs to be set up good to beat 1
those sleds were a bad science experiment done by BRP

i had one and havent tried the new apex to compare it to, it was a very fast machine though, but blew 3 belts in two days last time out and was waiting to blow the engine, so glad i sold it and moved on!! My riding buddy has the same sled i did so i'm sure we will be racing and i will report back!

I had bouth and the 2011 apex is almost as fast as a 2005 mach z that i had. Pretty close but not as fast as the mach. Both sleds being bone stock that is.

Both in equal state of tune, by a good tuner, the Mach will prevail... But, if you run into a stocker and you have tuned your Apex, the Apex will beat it easily... I beat 1 a couple of times, but it was stock out of the crate with studs and mine had clutching PCIII/Ignition controller airbox and excell exhaust... I beat it pretty good all the way to top end...

I had a 2006 z for four years. No problems with belt, but I allways use the oem. The sled was very fast, but a friend of mine with a well set up 2006 Apex would beat me. Now I m running a 2011 Apex XTX, and using the chritmas to instal a 290 kit from mcxpress

Well i must be running against some poorly tuned machs, ive never had any trouble with machs, My srx, viper, and rx1s always gave them a good run for their money, I would win unless i got a bad start. Now this is in 660 drags though. I love it, every year the locals are spending upwards of $10000 to $13000 to beat me, none have yet.

Brother-inlaw had a well tuned 05 mach, he could never pull away from me, till he put on a team tied secondary then he had me by several lenghts both were studded ice race. The apex prevails on near pure ice, any amount of snow slows that sled down. Now he has a xf1100T with 240 picks, exhaust and ecu reflash no point in racing!

That's what I was thinking. I ran a bone stock 2005 on the big lake spooled up with my always good running Viper and we were dead even for miles. He said he did not have anything done to it but he accused me of being piped. He was shocked when I threw my hood to see the single pipe on my sled. I am sure he headed for his favorite speed shop after that event.

well i was able to race a 2006 mach z a number of times and he didnt stand a chance from the get go. he was shocked and will be buying a yamaha next year! Also raced a 2011 xrs 800, and he as well didnt stand a chance. Even with the all the "weight" yamahas have and not to mention i have over 100lbs on both riders weight wasnt an issue as they couldnt catch me! Needless to say there wasnt much talking at lunch just me passing the boys kleenex to wipe the tears!
