So my friend had some problems with his f-7 and i had to go get his sled he said he had enough he was going to buy a new one he lives in milwaukee and is here to ride untill the Jan2. so i kept telling him about the viper however knowing he's a cat guy i tell him he can get the yamaha motor in the cat he says ok thats what im going to do.HE DID DRIVE MY NYTRO XTX for 50 miles and loved the motor. anyway the dealer and the mechanic tell him that the yamaha motor shouldnt even be in a sled and bashed the hell out it. So he ended up buying a 2013 800rr what a bunch of bs.
Thanks Dale :o|

That is BS, funny when I went to hay days I asked the yamaha dealer which one would be better between the Viper and the 7000 he said should be the same. Then I asked a arctic cat dealer and he said the 7000 would be better and faster, because yamaha will be more conservative. And then he kind of bashed the Yamaha. Saying they have no clue on a chassis and clutch. So that's why the cat would be better. And to buy a RR is crazy unless he ride it hard as hell. :o|

Just speaking for myself here.
I know what i want pretty much every time i pull out my wallet.
I an completely blown away that someone could make a purchase that big and allow someone else to decide what they will ride.
Seems silly to me, but to each thier own.
Hope your friend enjoys the cat.

The reason why is probably because they wanted to get rid of there 2013 sleds. So they bash the Yammi and talk really good about the RR and then your buddy got it. Better tell your buddy to buy some spare beltS!!!

Guys not trying to stir the pot here but the Suzuki 800 will blow the doors off Yamaha's triple. 165 HP and a hell of a lot lighter, no rotating mass at the top of the engine, no electric start, engine reverse. Is it as reliable? Maybe so. They last a long time. I'm not defending AC but that Suzuki twin is a beast. Even a turbo'd Viper (at a cost of $5k + the additional weight) would have a hard time with it. And will a turbo'd Yamaha last as long as a NA Suzuki 2 stroke?......

That's definitely stirring the pot...really the 800 is as reliable as the 1049, no way. Yes it is a good motor, but would not go over 5000 miles without a rebuild if even that far. I had around 7000 miles on my Nytro with no motor repairs, or anything for that matter. As far as speed of course a 163 hp sled should beat a 135 hp sled. But I will run any stock or slightly modded 800 cat with my Viper for what ever you would like to bet. I beat a 2013 800 cat with my Nytro with mods but N/A. They are fast and great sleds, lighter yes, go through belts yes. But more reliable that the triple no, faster than a turbo Viper no! But thanks for the post it was fun! :jump:

You had me right up to the part where you compare a turbo'd 4 stroke not outlasting a 2 stroke...that's just stupid.

They have Nytro MTX with the MPI turbo with 240+ hp and with 12,000+ miles on them with the stock motor. Now let's see a 800 Suzuki come close to that. I know there are more 4 stroke turbos with that kind of mileage, but I know this guy. That's why I brought it up.

Suzuki makes an excellent engine. Those 800s are good for 10,000 easy. My brother's 2003 F7 had 20,000 before he lost a piston last year. Granted a turbo 4 stroke is fast down the lake or straight up but that's a lot of extra cash to spend to make a heavy sled do what a light one can (in a straight line). To each their own but I know for a fact I can buy a complete crate engine for less than an MPI turbo. Probably easier to install too. I would race any of you mofos but it ain't gonna happen unless you come to Newfoundland. Then you will be wishing you had a 2 stroke because the terrain here is sick. Anyways, I guess I am stirring the pot a little, but all in fun! Enjoy your sleds and I hope you don't mind the smell of 2 stroke as you're trying to keep up. Oh and only the turbo 4 strokes are blowing belts. Just sayin.
;):D

i have personally beat a couple stock rr800 cats in a 660' race with my nitro. My nytro hooks up real good. i posted this because i dont think it's right for a dealer who sells a product to sit there and tell somone there junk i think i might even call and see what corporate thinks about that.
Thanks Dale :4STroke:

Your right they do make a nice engine as long as its not to Cats Spec... So lets just settle down here and relax... this is still a Yamaha forum ... no need to piss in my sand box please.

I ride a Heavy Apex 150 hp, Yes, it is heavy no doubt. I ride with Cat 800's all day and no comparison on top end speed, hole shot, gas milage,,,, Cat 800s are pushing 170 HP? so why is my tank faster in almost all snow conditions? and giving up 20 Horses? I also ride with an 1100turbo cat and out run it in almost all conditions except deep powder? giving up 30 hp to the turbo? Not to mention how many times I have towed him home? Maybe power to weight and power to the ground might make up the differance. I know some sleds just flat out run faster than others( Tuning) There is one Red F7 in our group that is honestly the fastest on most days. I would never let someone else make my buying decision. Dealers are going to speak to what they need to sell, we all know that. OK sorry just had to join in on the fun. All things considered choose what fits you best and ride on!
Blue ;)!

Well if your getting 10,000 miles out of your 800 cat then maybe I should teach you where the throttle is. I have tons of friends with all the different manufactures and they don't even come close to 10,000 miles. They all ride hard and fast. Trail riding boondocking jumping and what ever there is except climbing huge hills or mountains. And it's all different sized engines as well. Whether it's e tec or liberty or Suzuki no one I know gets that kind of miles! I race my friends ski doo 800 power tec that has mods, and with only 4 pounds of boost I whipped him right out of the hole and all the way up. No turbo lag here and the Viper launches awesome! So I guess it's easy to talk crap when you live 9000 miles away. But your right it's all in fun and I have no worries! If you want to talk about your sled or manufacture that's cool, but please make sense while doing it. But I know your sled is invincible. ;):D

Only blowing belts if is say 1100T on the side of it! I have never seen a 2 stroke with over 8K on it without a rebuild and I'd think twice about doing a backpack trip with one over 4K...just saying!

Very true, but I have heard that the 800's were going through belts too. But either way. No excuse for that dealer to do that! He would of made more money or close to selling him the 7000 he just wanted to get rid of older stock. Plain and simple!
