Are RX-1M and a 2.25" finger track a match made in heav

I have to wonder if perhaps the adding of a 2" or a 2 1/4" finger track on an RX-1M wouldn't be one heck of a compliment to the sled (if it's not used exclusively for highmarking). I experienced an uncontrollable slide induced by engine braking near the end of last winter coming into a slightly icy corner. I have since often wondered if a finger track would have maintained traction where the paddles had rolled over and become little tobbogans. I do enjoy FAST trail riding in addition to boondocking often and hillclimbing occasionally.
To be quite honest, if I had wanted a sled for the steep and deep I more than likely would have chose something other than an RX-1M but, since I do some of all types of riding I thought this sled bode well with my variety of conditions.
I see the 151" version of the 2 1/4" track weights 60 lbs. and the 2.0" weights 54 lbs. A big weight difference I guess but is it really? The 2 1/4" track only has the very highest tips reaching the height of 2.25". The remaining paddles and fingers are 2" or less. The 2.0" is the same with the majority of the track being under the 2" mark. That would be good for going fast I guess but may suck while boondocking. Do you guys have any experience (good or bad) with finger tracks? The area I typically ride has a snow consistancy somewhere between Champagne powder and Sierra cement (skier terms). Yes, there is a considerable water content but it's not slushy. Thanks for any input you can provide. Powder Blue

I think you may have clearance issues with the 2.25 track. It's pretty tight with the 2 inch and I see where mine has rubbed a bit here and there.

That's why they make wire cutters :) Maybe the 2" combination finger/paddle would be the best alternative. Then you'll REALLY kick my butt!
I really am leaning toward a combination finger/paddle track. I want the best of both worlds. Powder Blue

That is why I am waiting for a 16" wide track kit. That way I can have the footprint of a 159 with a 151. I still have not seen any kit like this. Has anyone?

Remember With A Track that you are talking ROTATING wieght this Sucks up Lots of Power You Can Stick Nice Little Screws in the Finger Track
Which is Nice if it Happins to Be Ice or Hardpack But the Fingers did not seem to help that much stock on the 159 RX1 1 I Tried Last season
That Said ADD some Screws and It MAY save your #*$&@ on an ICY climb with THIS HEAVY MONSTER

Hey Blacky (Black Sabbath) I was waiting for the same thing but after measuring twice (remember, measure twice cut once) that track just won't fit without modifiying several things. I was hoping someone would introduce a 15 1/2" track. Now we're in business.
I hope to see you at the Snowmobile show tomorrow at the Fairgrounds. I'll be hunting for a 2 1/4" finger track for $250. Yeah right! Powder Blue

I did not know about the show. I will be there. When are you going? We can meet up if you want.

I am going to measure my dad's new Rev's tunnel and compare to mine. if they are the same, we should be in business.

See you at the show.

Black Sabbath, you had me crawling around under my sled again last night. The biggest problem area looks to be where the rear suspension are attached to tunnel. There's only about (maybe) 3/16" between each suspension mount and the track. Now, if an after market mount like MPI's gives more space then the other areas the track where the track would hit could be overcome with larger idler wheels above the top of the track. There's a couple bolts in the front of the tunnel too that could be dealt with and fixed. It's all up to the thickness of the aftermarket brackets. See yah. Powder Blue
