06'Attack is nothing but problems. the gasket in the chaincase got sucked into the chain and FRIED my chain and gears. I have heard this is a common problem on the 06's that they updated the 07 gasket for? also I cannot keep track clips on this damn thing. I feel like I am always :exc: . Anyone else experience these problems?? I am not looking for a $350 clutch kit, but what weights, springs and helix should I be looking for? I am new to the 4 stroke scene this year, but I have never had this many issues with my 2 strokin Yammies. Thanks in advance guys

I also own a 2006 attak.
First the chaincase did yamaha cover it and replace it for you because I had same problem with chaincase.
Second the track clip issue seems to be a limiter strap adjustment, adjust the limiter strap up one notch tighter and that should take care of your problem it did mine and 4 others with Attaks so far.

I had my straps pulled all the way up and if you over tighten the track just a smidge you will burn the clips. I was going to go to the Skidoo extroverts but I sold the sled. I truly believe until Yamaha addressed the terrible attack angle you are going to have problems. I guess one thing to check is the plastic caps on the front of the rails. if they are loose it will also contribute to the clip issue.

I think a clip every third window will cause problems for durability. Especially with the extra weight of the sled to begin with. More weight on each clip causes them to wear faster and get thin and weak. I also think track alignment issues can cause the drivers to maybe contact a clip.
I have a bunch of clips missing on my shorty and I’m going to replace track with a fully clipped next time around.

I had a fully clipped track. That's not the problem
I am trying to get the chaincase deal resolved with my dealer, I am just lucky the chain didnt break. I can't imagine what a MAGNESIUM chaincase would cost. I did notice that the protectors on the front of the rails are just flopping in the wind. Anyone tried bolting them down instead of rivets? Also, I ride with an 07 Attack with the fully clipped "quiet" ripsaw and he tosses track clips constantly also. He consumes about half the clips I do but its not just the track. I mean there were times this season when I was riding in A+ conditions and I would get back and I was missing 10 track clips. This is getting really irritating. Is it just the angle of the Monoshock that is putting that much pressure on the attack angle? I have over 10,000 miles on my 2000 SXr and I have run an 1.25 predator for the last 5000 miles. I am not missing a single track clip on the entire thing and it is open every 3rd. It has to be the skid.

I beat my self up trying to figure out why i was loosing clip's, Finaly i replaced the track with a 1.25 Ripsaw, fully cliped and predrilled. 600 mi later all is good with the same setup. I started loosing clip's at about 2,500 mi and gave up and put the track in at 3,400. Several thing's are contributor's to this problem, Higher heat per clip with only 1/3 of the clip's, Sled weight, And we had a lot of snirt condition's here the last two season's that caused a lot of wear on the clip's. I also had 168 stud's in center belt, Some of the track people thought that may have caused cord's to break. That is why i wen't with the pre drilled, It has extra cord structure and has a one year warranty with stud's. My original track was slaping real bad between the drive and curve of the rail at 80 MPH on up causing the clip's to open up come loose and fall out. I finaly gave up when a friend noticed the track slap and we found loose clip's that were about to fall out for the third time. A contact that i have with Yamaha had contacted camoplast about this and they said this same thing can be duplicated on hard condition's (ice, plowed road's, etc) when run for long distances 3,4 mile's +, The track will build a resonance and loosen clip's. This is more of an issue with taller lug height's that we run in today's sled's. All i can say for sure is it is mine fine now. Good luck. kviper

IT's the mono that does it . my 03 has 12,800 miles on it and has not lost a clip . my buddys 05 was loseing a lot of clips and he rode the same trails as me . he put on a m10 and has not lost a clip since .

The Mono could contribute to this but i think we need to look at the bigger picture. We have had some real bad condition's these last few year's in our area, Less snow mean's harder condition's and more snirt wich changes every thing and will also be hard on wheel's. kviper

Can someone explain what the loose plastic ends on the front rail has to do with this problem please? Mine just wooble around, and I never heard that this was causing any problems? Thanks, Honk

From what i hear they can get loose enough to catch the verticle tab's on the outside of the clip's and rip them out. That is posible but was not my problem because i have mine bolted solid and they are still tight. kviper

Is this clip issue just on the Attaks, or the 121 Apex's too?

I have a few missing on my 121. My remaining clips are getting a bit thin so I'm going to replace with a fully clipped next time around. It’s been good to me for 2 seasons and I'll swap out the track this summer.

I am pretty sure it has to be the MONO. My SXr was present the entire trip in the UP. Before I left I replaced 23 track clips and I was missing a center idler wheel which my dealer replaced under warantee. Well we got up there the Week of March 1-6 and we got a fresh 12-16 inches of snow the first day. I got home and I was missing 17 track clips and the OTHER center idler. I got close to 1000 miles on that week but what a joke. I paid big $$ for this thing and it $hits parts all over the trail. Dont get me wrong I love this sled and the mono doesnt even compare to the poundings I've taken on the Proaction, I just want to get this problem solved.
