I have a 06 Attak with 320 miles and I noticed excessive slide wear. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? i.e. more Idler wheels?

Some people have.Check track tension and make sure you run it as loose as you can without racheting. Also make sure that your inside idler wheels aren't blown. If they are they can wear down the slides fast.

Wrong.......brought my sled to dealer for oil change and some other minor issues, questioned my dealer about the hyfax wear because i had already changed 1 set (changed to blue) he called Yamaha while i was there, explained the situation and Yamaha said run it to spec, 30-35 mm at 22 lbs of pull. I guess if you run the track looser then that, because of the design of the skid, the track will slap against the skid after it comes around the rear axel rather then follow a flat line. Yamaha said it will wear then stop and it should be fine.

I changed my first set at 200mi. Second set at 600mi. Not happy so far with the wear issue. Dealer says other people are complaining of wear issues to but yamaha says it is from lack of snow. I ride with the same Polaris guys all the time and they have no wear problems.

I have an 2006 attack. I'm running a fully clipped track. I have 313 miles and have little to no wear on my hyfax. I also pulled my strap up 2 spots so that helps the front. I think these things are wearing fast becuase of the tracks not being fully clipped.

One more thing that 300 miles was 150 mile sof Snirt and marginal condtions. So if they were going to wear they would have in the crap I road in.

I think the wheel kit from FIX Powersports will help as well as the oversized idlers from DOO or Polaris will cure the issue, because I have noticed that there is way too much drag on these sleds.

I have over 300 miles of snirt riding and my hyfax has zero wear. I installed SLP anti wear pads from day one. Forget the larger diameter wheels and either fully clip the track or do what I did. The problem is simple; the hyfax is coming into contact with the un-punched rubber area and the friction is causing the wear. Larger diameter wheels won't help in the most crucial area at the bend of the skid in front. I saw a package of the pads sell on ebay last week for $10 bucks.........

Once I installed the pads on my Attak I could put the front ski's on casters, leave the track on the ground and push the sled across the floor effortlessly with one hand. Try that with your sled right now with those big idlers or whatever else, you won't be able to 8)

300 miles of low snow/frozen snow/snirt/no snow riding on my RTX and I had to change the hyfax or they wouldn't lasted another ride. I've ridden in less than desirable conditions all year though (could smell the hyfax numberous times).

Ok Mighty, so what are SLP antiwear pads? SLP sliders?

So Allen, what do you think would help eliminate the drag and help reduce hyfax wear.

I've switch to the 1" hacksaw track which is fully clipped and added a set of wheels on the front of the rails as well as the rear. I also switched the stock wheels to 5.375" diameter wheels.
