Have a 2016 Yamaha sr ltx viper Non current, the manual was not included for an unknown reason and just wondering if anyone could post the belt change procedure for me. Thanks you

Wear a glove push in and counter clock wise on the helix and the secondary will open pull the belt down into it to hold it open and then take it off the primary

Yes oops Clockwise....if you get it off the other way kudos!

They make it look so easy in the video, but I have a hard time opening the secondary by hand. Then I read about putting a wrench (14 mm I think) on one of the secondary bolts to give you added leverage while turning it clockwise and pushing in on it. You should have one of the wrenches in your tool kit, and it makes it even easier than the video.

Good tip!! Also you can reach in and grab the inner sheaves edge and turn as you use the heal of your palm to push in on the helix.

I'm in the process of putting on a new belt for the upcoming season. Manual says to remove the belt guard but after removing the bolts I see it's riveted to the tunnel too. Struggling with the clearance issues as well.

You dont need to remove the belt guard. Watch the video.

I did watch the video but the guy was in the way half the time and I believe it's a Sidewinder. Not sure if the access to the cover is better. I tried the locking of the brake and using my foot as someone suggested and that worked pretty well.
I measured the new belt against the one that's been on for 5300 km and there was only about 0.4 mm wear. I checked at several locations. Probably didn't need the new one so it is now my spare and I have some idea how to do it now should there be a trail side emergency. Thanks for the quick response.

Its the same for a Viper. Once you get a knack for it it is easy. Practice. The guy in the way is Mr.Sled! LOL
