919 miles she go BOOM! I was just thinking i had a "good" one & was gonna brag on TY to you fellas. Belt was perfect at 800 miles with little dust & NO wear. OSP adjuster, Ulmer rollers, 60 degrees on spring & offset at 60. 20 miles in from last stop so belt was warmed up. Not really a high speed run because of lack of visibility from snow dust. I had her opened up a few times, but at 60ish....KABOOM! SNAPPED! Looked like a tractor trailer tire on the side of the road EXCEPT it was in my clutch! I had the cover off in 60 seconds & clutches were barely warmer than my skin. (98.6 for those wondering) Had to take clutch off in front of passers by. The embarrassment could not hide my anger. At least 2 coils were rusted, so they were touching & scraped through the paint. I'm assuming coil bind. Only explanation that fits this scenario. Are the clutch kits from vendors fixing this issue? Anybody have some input? Hoping to talk to Allen at Ulmer soon...NOT HAPPY

BTW this is why i didn't buy an 1100 Cat years ago. I remember towing one with my 5000 mile belt on Apex, busting the guys' balls the whole time. Now i have to wear a cup.
P.S. a cup is a piece of safety equipment baseball players wear to keep their "boys" safe

I replace my belt every 500-600 miles just cuz. Cmon we are putting 200+ hp through a pos hunk of rubber. Rubber fatigues. I put new slicks on my race car every 700 track miles or so. You got to pay to play. I think you did good. I watched a turbo cat at Lost Pines go through 3 belts in 45 mins. Blew all of them.

8 dn's...whos blowing those> and when etc
8dn or 8jp doesn't matter when they coil bind this bad. This was as far as mine would shift out with .070 cut out of my spring pocket. I can't believe this made production. Been testing with other secondary springs so far without more blown belts.

Just remember to pick up every part of your blown belts. Don't leave any pieces behind.

So far I've had good luck with the Hauck red. Works similar to stock but does not coil bind. The wrap is different. 3 and 9 is about 60 deg. Not perfect though. Still have a box of springs I need to test with, and I have no place to do it as its warm and there is no snow here now.

I call BS Shaggy! I've ridden my Apex WAAAAY harder & WAAAAAAAAAAAY faster than this was ridden! I'm still getting used to this thing so i could not keep up with ME on my Apex. NOT YET anyways. I could deal with changing belts every 1000 miles, but this exploded & snapped in half & no signs it was coming. How do i know it will last 500 miles? What if it blows at 200 & i have to drive like a friggin' wuss on my spare belt to make sure i don't get towed? How do i know at 499 miles it doesn't explode & destroy my clutches or air box or lock up sled that causes an injury or just my EGO or piss me off enuf that i buy a 850 Doo! SORRY, i got fired up. Is it coil bind for sure? I've read every single Sidewinder post 3 times over since it started & there's still no final conclusion, so i'm calling around tomorrow & dumping another $500 or so to fix what shouldn't be happening even with 200 HP!!!!!! I can deal with the crappiest skis ever since the Ski-Daddler or loose bolts or rollers made of melted "Big Wheels", but i do NOT like to be stranded....I replace my belt every 500-600 miles just cuz.
