My God,come to maine,we have 3-5 feet now on ground, and I don't have a sled to ride yet, still in pieces,so I guess a belt in pieces is not anywhere as bad,but I will be very pissed if my rocket starts blowing belts,to,as it is boosted above stock level, but I am gearing up,so hoping that and allens clutching does the trick, cant believe how many stock sleds are belt blowing, and these are mostly yamahas, not cats.WTFSo far I've had good luck with the Hauck red. Works similar to stock but does not coil bind. The wrap is different. 3 and 9 is about 60 deg. Not perfect though. Still have a box of springs I need to test with, and I have no place to do it as its warm and there is no snow here now.

I talked to brand new Cat dealer down street. I used to ride with him. He says no belt problems yet with the Cats. Maybe Cat wins the clutch war of '17! Maybe it's just poor machining on spring pocket, but that .70 thousandths has me fired up...

Cool bind in secondary. That spring is junk the coils are way to close together IMO. It's a combination of spring and helix angle. I really think it has to do with the belt hanging/ whipping between the two clutches. It's like the helix angle and spring in secondary don't match the actions of the primary. they don't open and close together in rhythm well enough? IMO more helix angle and possibly stiffer primary makes it better. Not convinced that more or higher wrap 6/1 is entirely the answer. IMO OF COARSE. Not a expert but just a few thoughts

1200 miles with a straight 38 and no blown belts.
I've blown a second one at 360 miles with a dalton 40-35 helix and dalton white spring. First one lasted 500 miles. I've got 860 total miles and I've blow 2 belts so far.
I Machined spring pocket 70 thou and did the rollers and sheave bushing at 400 miles so no help in the belt dept.
Ive been turned up since new and my buddy that is stock blew his first belt last night at 700km. He's never done one high speed pull in fear of blowing a belt. When he had his turbo 200 Mcx Nytro he drove the piss out of it and blew one belt in three years. And that was a non decompressed engine that had way more response then these winders do thefore should stress the belt even more.
His primary had a inch where the belt hasd never ridden ever so top speed runs are not the issue and are not to blame.
He changed his rollers and replaced the bushing so they are not to blame either.
My clutches have never been hot so heat is not to blame here. My offset is bang on so we can exclude that as well.
So, I bought a STM and took a shot in the dark with what helix(40-35) to use and the fucker slips too bad so I'm now awaiting another helix. I'm blaming the piece of #*$&@ secondary for now until I can prove otherwise. I came from cat where I chewed more rubber then youbcan imagine so this just pisses me off more then you can imagine.
Ask yourself why a Mcx apex 200-260 or 300 don't blow belts ever or why my 270 hp Mcx Nytro never blew one belt in 4000 even after throwing 6 different helixes at it over the span of two seasons.

1200 miles on mine also straight 35 , spring 3-3 , touch wood no blown belts yet ,shimmed secondary . but i do agree something about secondary not right , very sloppy once taken apart , i had a stm secondary on my last sled . much tighter tolerances , on the jack stand watching the belt shifting threw low to high and then back shift to neutral , some times it will hang up and not shift back all the way , either binding on the shaft from sloppy centre bushing is my opinion , and why is the 3 roller not contacting the helix surface all at the same time ? i no my stm did
FYI my stm has two rollers out of three contacting the helix fwiw
Once again I bought a 200plus hp sled to drive it like a 600 cc . I'm very close to going to a 850 for next season. I know they have been tossing a few belts too but they are also 5k cheaper when all said and done with mods etc and Doo will correct that for next season is my bet.

I see a lot of belt shake on stand on the back shift. Not that the stand is the best test. Just something I noticed. I did get 1000 out of stock belt with straight 38. The belt LOOKS very good after 1000. I since have put a 8dn on for 250 miles and seems like less dust and my RPM actually dropped slightly compared to stock 8jp
I do have an Evo stage 3 tune, Dalton 35/39, thunder products primary clutching. I played with the secondary until all 3 rollers touched. The only time I blew belts was on a pull on the lake over 100 mph. Finally after a secondary spring, I can make a long pull. For reference I lost my first belt at 180 miles on a stock sled

Blew my first belt today 2200 miles on the sled, I changed belt at 1063miles just because I can't complain I've had good luck 1100miles and the last 3 days have been in Wyoming the belt went after 10+ hill climbs and dozens of wheelies and in mid wheelie it went im shimmed with 5/16 lock washers and wrapped at 6-1 everything else stock spinning a 153 2.5in track not sure what's going on with your clutches but something isn't right I'm happy with 1000+ miles on a belt. I'm now running the belt I removed at 1063miles and still kill a mtntek turbo axys

Which secondary spring?

Guys!!!!
Bitching will get you nowhere here.....
EVO had my SW and blew a belt with 8 miles on the odometer.....8!!!!
Testing in the yard with no snow. I knew the stock clutching was too heavy and belt squeeze was too much. Put in #1 clutch kit, then #2, then #3, then #4 and #5 with no issues with blowing another belt...so I thought "Must have been a flaw in the belt when EVO had it....#*$&@ happens"
Ran the piss out of my 8JP belt and after 600+ miles of hard off-trail, back to back fast speed runs....the belt popped on me while I was showing off in front of some Cats. The bang was so loud...instead of laughing cause I blew a belt, they were concerned I was hurt.
New 8JP belt and now after 1,200 miles. It was time to make some fast speed runs on revised #2 clutch kit. At 130mph GPS, the belt blew in half and actually pushed the side panel out with the belt "sticking it's tongue out". The reason why the belt blew was because the belt climbed over the inner sheave and was pinched between the engine and clutch. How do I know this? Because my gearing only allows me to run about 116mph....but I am overly machined for overdrive. There isn't even a magic-marker mark on my primary anymore.
I have machined both my clutches, set my offset to 61.2mm...and can honestly say when I found out the coil bind was happening, I thought that was it. Machined clutches for friends and has it got better? Hell yes!!! Are we or they still blowing belts? Yup....but now it's after a few hundred miles.
Tried different springs in the secondary and the ones that have less wire diameter will knock off mph on top end. We all have our dimensions checked over to make sure the offset distance is correct. Trying different clutch kits. I don't know what to try anymore....but I believe my sled will not blow a belt if I re-gear. These are my results and have tried everything.

Terry please report exactly which secondary springs you have tried.
