If I hit the throttle too hard....and by hard, I mean anything other than creeping into engagement....I get belt squeal. I cleaned my clutches in case any air box oil got onto the faces...but I probably do not have my belt deflection and tension correct. I am using the OSP version.
Does squeal mean the belt is too tight or loose?
By turning the adjuster in...this opens the faces, and loosens the belt. Correct?
I was under the impression that squeal was a result of the belt being too tight. I mentioned this to a dealer (other than my own,) doing a 500 mile service while I was in the middle of a trip.....and he seemed to think I had that backwards.
I have 800 miles on the sled, with a ton of squealing starts on the belt. I'd have to think any residue was long burned off.....but I'd hate to install a new belt and burn up those faces as well. Leave the old one on or replace with new, before a big saddle bag trip?
Any suggestions? Anyone else have squeal? Track is studded, LTX LE. Much appreciated!

Turning the adjuster in opens the sheaves and loosens the belt. I'd "guess" you have it too tight, but usually that manifests in squealing while sitting still too. Can you take a pic of where your belt is sitting in the Secondary? Thunder Products has a good video installing their adjuster and shows what proper belt deflection looks like. OSP may have a video too as I recall. If I hit the throttle too hard....and by hard, I mean anything other than creeping into engagement....I get belt squeal. Mine has squeaked on take off since day one no issues I've adjusted my belt deflection a couple times. If I hit the throttle too hard....and by hard, I mean anything other than creeping into engagement....I get belt squeal. Mine squealed once on a moderate take off from stopped, but I had rolled up against an ice-snow chunk left on the trail from a tunnel shed. I just gave it a bit more throttle and away we went!
