Get a Yamaha clutch puller and it should pop right off and then you can get those threads out of there.

So last week my belt blew up and it left strings of the old belt behind the primary any suggestion on how to remove it?

finally some snow around here! to bad about the belt though. If you don't want to buy the puller you can give the water removal method a try. Just do a youtube search of snowmobile primary clutch water removal trick. not sure if it works on Yamahas but might save you a few bucks. Plus dealing with our crappy dealers here.

the Teflon tape is still cheaper then the puller lol so worth a try. Hopefully you can rent a puller from the dealer.

Happened to me last year. Sharp knife, needle nose pliers and spinning the primary backwards got it free for me. About 20 minutes of cutting and pulling in a dark field. The engine bolts behind the clutch were the biggest pain because they are so tight to the clutch.

The best part is not only did the puller allow you to take the clutch off to fix this problem, but now you'll be able to take the clutch off any time you want to service it.
