Yeah the MT guys dont have alot of high speed airflow like we do on trails. I know when we get into our real tight corner to corner riding in some of our tightest areas, we really see underhood temps spiking, Belts surely alot hotter.
Are these similar to my temp gun? You know the temp gun that shoots out a red laser light and can read temps fairly accurately close or from across the room...works well.

and that sensor looks like it would pick up under hood heat before any belt heat being that far away. Seems odd.
I do like seeing the multi-step thumb and hand heaters on the gauges for '19...like doos have.

The infrared sensor they are using has a narrow field of view, so it's more accurate. You get less averaging of anything else that may be in the sensor's "view". I can tell you that they work very well, but you have to pay attention to it.

Any chance a high temp threshold could be programmed in, and then have the gauge temp flash, to better get the drivers attention ?

A warning tone for this, knock, and low oil would be great.

Very interesting Allen, thanks for this info. Its cool to see Cat coming with some tech! Mt guys sure will like this feature.....Wonder how it would work for trail guys? The infrared sensor they are using has a narrow field of view, so it's more accurate. I have not had any heat issues with my belt, mine seem to rip in two(snap) more then anything.

I found one WR-products.com shows average and high temps on gauge. Has bright light to warn you.

I was getting around 800 miles per belt but not much wide open running last year. I'm sure if I was running more lakes they would not have lasted as long.I hope so.....I just set mine all up with Hurricane bar, and did will be trying some new things. Yes heat out west is a big factor. No place for the heat to go when chasing the deep days. I stop lots and let thing cool. Be nice to have some kind of indicator stating things are getting hot.Yeah the MT guys dont have alot of high speed airflow like we do on trails.
