I don't make the rules about shimming the valves, it is just what is recommended by all the turbo manufactures. I don't want to be responsible for you having problems. Better for you to know then not know at all and then you have problems.

Don't get me wrong..I appreciate the info...I'm just looking for a concrete reason as to why.

As has been discussed many times befor 8lbs boost on pump fuel is on the edge, many motors have gone down running 8 to 10 lbs on pump fuel with a stock motor. even at 10,000 ft. just check the hp, octane, elevation calculator sticky above this topic.

A few but not to do with shimming the valves, the man reason is deto!!
Get good fuel, make sure your turbo is sucking ICE COLD air is KEY!!
Get a Parker Knock box, and dont be dumb with it and you will be fine! I have over 3,000 miles of happy happy boost!!!

With fuel, I run 30% 110 and 70% premium. Over 2K miles and counting. I run a Stage II bender with the switch on high boost all the time - with good qulity air at 3K feet above sea level - I might get 13.5 lbs of boost- One can be safe rather than sorry and spend the money - but with 95 octane I see no issues yet. For what it is worth....

I definitly agree with setting the valve lash to the very loose side of the factory specs but definitly not past that. Honestly, I don't put much faith into the word of someone that works at a sled shop over the engineers that built the engine. A lean N/A motor could have hotter EGT's then a safe boosted motor..

Jordan?? You got the wrong guy. You're thinking of my brother.
AND this info isn't for Jonathon's sled it's for one of my other riding buddy's but he does spend alot of time on Simcoe...
FYI Jordan doesn't share his clutching with anyone you don't have to worry lol....but you do sound alittle nervous

Sorry for the mistake on your identity.
Good to see the word got back to you and I am sure 87gtnos got in touch with you to post right away and almost looks like he wrote it for you.
Me nervous that is funny. I think if anyone should be nervous it is you considering you are doing this for a.........friend........... and trying to make it work for flatlanders. Always welcome to come and play on Simcoe. I have only seen 1 turbo go fast on their and yet to see one last for trail riding for flatlanders.
Good luck

umm..ok..
Either way Jon DOES NOT have a turbo. If he did..what would that matter? It doesn't take boost to run a MachZ maybe the F10 will be faster..
There are lots of fast turbo flatlanders right here on this board..with lots of miles so I'm not worried about that (Chris at Yamaha has 4 or 5000kms on his MCX powered warrior). I'd have one on my own sled if I had the $$. I really don't see how any of this is helping me get this guy turbo installation info!!
