MTnviper, tell us about the Vector gauge pod. I have wondered since I bought my MTX if you could make a Vector tach work on a Nytro. If it can be done, please post pics and tell us how you did it.
Crap, everytime I say I'm done spending money, something new pops up.
Thanks,
LG

Sure, here is a thread on it! http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... ge&start=0
It has to be a gauge off of a EFI vector, so it can communicate with the ECU.
Best deal I found for a new one was at yamahasportsplaza.
They are $400 new, and I was on the fence about doing it because of the cost.
However I knew my clutching wasn't quite right. I was having a hard time keeping an eye on those tiny numbers, and safely looking where I was going under WOT!
It has a nice big tach, now I can see where my RPMs are with a quick glance! Glad I spent the $$, now that I have it

Sorry for OT, but i too was for a looong time thinking about go ahead and buy the Vector gauge-the price of that thing is as ridiculous as the oem Nytro gauge. Is it anyone to this day that accually managed to read the digits in the Nytro pod??
However, after three months of consideration, i came to the conclution that i had allready blown the sledbudget way beyond all senses and as long as my wife dosent see the bill...well, what the f**k
Whaiting for it to show in my mailbox any day now
Got a friend with a XTX MCX 180 that allready got it, and beside the breeze to plug it in its wounderful to be able to ride and accually be able to read the tach at the same time. Oh, did i mention that the speedo digits is a bit larger as well? Its not by mutch, but noticible. The whole gauge feels more of a "quality" to look at then the OE. Think of the difference between a Mercedes and a Kia....both do what they are supposed to do, but the feeling in a Merc is a couple of notches better so to speak.

Thanks Viper, this is excellent info. I looked high an low for a decent aftermarket tach and they were around $250 with no gurantee of functionality or durability in the cold and wet. I wonder if you can get this with a white background..??
Thanks again,
LG

We are currently testing a tether system that is specifically designed for the normally closed Yamaha circuit.
This kit incorporates a VERY glove friendly housing, and the days of fumbling around to get your clip reset are over. This kit can be used as an "on/off" switch without worry of a dead battery, melted wiring, or OEM systems interference. Best of all, the price is a bit less than others available on the market!
Stay tuned, the kit should be available soon!

Not sure about the white back ground, maybe the aftermarket has one. It would be cool!
BTW the Vector guage also has dual trip meters, kinda handy when your on vacation and want to track daily and weekend miles.

This will be a winner I have been through 2 or 3 different tethers on the Nytro alone. So far worked flawless and I really like having the switch on the bars

Nextech Rear Float Conversion, no more bottoming and lighter
Timbersled Venting, works great and looks awesome
OFT Relocator, super strong and much better bar position
153" Challenger, much improved traction over Maverick in all conditions
2 Wheel Kit, looks cool.....that's all?
Yamaha RSI Grips, MUCH more heat and great grip now

let me know when it's ready! I got the Gunnar tether to work properly but after only about 400 miles it's wearing out and won't work if it gets any snow in it at all. Just ordered a cat tether from Dennis Kirk tonight. To much use of the tether I guess, lol.
