I want to lighten up rear skid(03 RX1 MTN) , looked at various kits (MP/Hartman/Fabcraft). What is best and why? Hartman has bolt in skid for $1300 is the way to go? Also noticed pics on their site of stock skid with lightweight parts from Fabcraft but they (Fabcraft) tell me they don't have other then their skid for $2500? I can get a M7 153" skid for a decent price, but I don't like the idea of cross-breed sled. I'd like to work with stock skid if possible? What's working well at decent weight and price!

If I were to do it - I would go with the Hartman kit, which is really made by Holz Racing.

It is more like the 05 stock skid.

MPI's kit to lighten up the 03 skid can save you almost the same weight, but you are still riding around on a modified 03 skid which is not as good of a design for the mountains as the 05 skid.

Another option is to try to pick up a Polaris skid - VERY similar to the Holz, but you would have to figure out how to mount it yourself.

While you've got it all apart throw some extrovert drivers on it.

I rode a sled with the Holz skid on it a few years ago and it worked well.

Thanks, I'll try to make a deal on lightening mine up! But Holz is probably the way to go. Anybody put in a Doo skid? I can get a 151" complete skid for a good price!
