I have a 2006 ApexGT and have lost two snow flaps now, are there any aftermarket flaps that are better than the oem that gets caught under the track in reverse. Also while I am posting what is the best proven fix for the handwarmers, all the results in a search can confuse a man.

Buy a 07-newer yamaha snow flap, they are stiffer and don't fold under as easy in reverse, call Kevin at Port Yamaha(262-377-5480),they are a site sponser. I think they are around $20.00

The '07 flap can still be sucked into the track if you try to back up in deep snow. I had replied to an earlier post that I had never had this happen on my '07 Apex GT only to have it happen last weekend!

In that other thread some guys had fabricated and installed straps of different sorts from the bumper to the flap to prevent the flap from being able to get sucked into the track. I personally would not do that because it looks bad IMO. Here is link to that other thread on this subject.

At $20 something a pop I will just buy another one if I forget and back up in deep snow again and shred the flap with my studs. The '07 flap price seems unbelieveably fair for a Yamaha part and the labor to replace it is not that bad if you have the right tools.

If you notice there is a line about 2 inches from the bottom, cut the flap on that line and you will have no more issues with it backing up. I did this last year with my Vector after reading of the fix here. I also cut the flap on my Nytro XTX the other day, no more backing up on it.

Mack7,

To answer your question about the best handwarmer fix use this link to another thread on this.

For your '06 it could be to simply change the grip wiring from series to parallel. You can use the sub lead or cut & splice. Here is another link for that subject

Rockmeister has another fix that I am waiting to find out more on so you may want to wait for that fix which he will be selling soon.

In the future you will get much better responses if you post separately for each question. You will also find the search function can be very helpful sometimes to find the answers to your questions if they have been covered before.

I just bought the Woody's flap strap. HAven't tried it yet but appears to work.

That may work great for you but it is not so great for your riding buddies who are behind you LOL.

welll on my apex i back over the stupid flap 2 times today to pretty much pull it thru the rivets in 2 places. my wifes vector (w/ the new flap that is posted above) did the same thing when she backed up. conclusion is they may work great on a flap groomed trail but not when any snow can build up behind it for sure.

I had made straps to hold mine. It still got hung up. But I ended up cutting just below YAMAHA. That fixed it. If it does catch the track just rub's the bottom of the flap and doesn't get sucked in jamming up the track.

I drilled a couple holes in the flap near the bottom. I carry a short bungie in the rear compartment. If I have to back into snow, I wrap the bungie around the handle, and hook it into the flap, to pull it up.
