I already snow checked LTX LE, but I I'm interested in changing the track. I was either going to go with a 1.75 inch snocross track, a 1.6 inch Cobra or a 1.5 inch Ripsaw 2. My friend said I should keep the stock ripsaw and stud it with a 196 studs but I was thinking of going with the 1.5 inch ripsaw and 144 studs or the 1.6 inch cobra and 144. 98% of my riding will be rough and groom trails in Upstate New York

I am also thinking like you , about the track switch .I already snow checked LTX LE, but I I'm interested in changing the track. Maybe there are guys who have the tracks we are considering , and want the 1.25 Rip saw !
I would even prefer the 1.6 Ice Cobra, to add studs to .

TTT
1.7 Back Country or 1.5 RipII spent some time on a 137 with that BackCountry and it really helped it get front end up but still could powerslide around corners and held up well without lug tears like SnoX track. Looks just like one but softer.

I love the stock 1.6 cobra on the XTX with 144 studs I am not sure in the LTX length with 2.86 drivers if it is a single ply like mine or not if it is you have to run Woody's grand master studs but they hold up well I have over 3000 miles on mine with HP of over 250 and have not lost 1

I was told try to go around one stud per horsepower, so 196 would be better for The Sidewinder than the 1:44. But do you think 144 with 1.5 track would be fine? I narrowed it down to either the 1.5 inch Rip saw 2 or the 1.6 inch cobra. I am leaning towards the cobra but I also hear for trail riding the ripsaw 2 does not get much better than that

I am looking at the same situation , and for a few bucks more I would lean to the Ice Cobra , plus the 144 studs .I was told try to go around one stud per horsepower, so 196 would be better for The Sidewinder than the 1:44. I had the 1.5 Ripsaw , on a 600 sled for my son , and it was very good .
I just think the combination of the lug studs , and the track studs, is the best of both worlds , without loading upon an extra 52 studs.

Well on an LTX you have a 137" track with 2.86 pitch or 48 windows for studs for 196 would be an average of slightly 4.08 studs per window which would be fine closer to 192 at 4. remember the longer the studs with these deep paddle tracks flex more and you do not get as much bite with them especially on high hp sleds. I can tell you that mine with 144 Grand Masters and 150 screw ins would not even leave the line at the ice drags. I had to peddle the throttle for over 1/2 track length till I got enough momentum to get her going.
The other thing t remember is once you stud moving them in parking lots and in trailer or garage is a bitch. Lots of track spin on engagement.
