Bit the Bullet - Axis Shocks

I’m still waiting on my bottom out bumpers I ordered in early January, and that’s just a piece of rubber. Can’t imagine a shock.

Yes parts for everything are real difficult! For Bumpstops on alot of shocks I have just been measuring and getting equivalent KYB bumpstops from Parts Unlimited.

I meant the ones on the rails. No hurry now. I’ll be sending you my shocks again for a freshen up and put the dsc in the other three shocks. I loved the dsc in the rear.

rode a winder with the elka shocks and it seemed to ride the same as mine..so i would say if the elkas are more expensive i would get the qs3's

Does anyone have any experience with the Exit shocks? I am trying to compare going with either the Fox QS3R's or the Exit. I have the Fox QS3R's on my LTX and are very happy with them, I just wanted something different to experience. Thoughts?

The middle suspension shock listed on the Exit site for Sidewinder is not the correct length. NOT the fronts BUT the middle suspension shock they list for a 17-20 sidewinder will not work on a 137". The shock is 1/2 inch to short. Don't ask me how I know!

Not so sure this is about what shock is best on a Sidewinder.. IMO its going to be about what shocks are available to purchase.

When I emailed Ian at monster performance he never even mentioned the exit shocks to me as an option which I found odd as he sells those shocks too. I asked for a set of 4 so maybe if exit doesnt have anything for the center he skipped that option?? He wasnt trying to upsell me for sure as the first package he priced me was the most budget friendly option/bang for the buck combo.

Well I have to say the Exit shock I received was sweet. Never rode with it obviously but it looked damn nice, if looks mean anything? Its shipping back as it was not going to work. I should have called them I guess.. My plan was to run that center Exit shock and the stock rear that comes on the SE. I feel the REAR shock is good and valved perfect, at least it was on my 17 SE. Not sure what My plan is now for the rear center, but ITS not going to be the stock one

Do you know if there were any changes in the shock dimensions from 2017 up until current models ? I know the rails changed at one point but curious if shock dimensions/mounting from 2017 has changed at all. Hard to compare part numbers because not every sled had same exact shocks year to year. I ask because Ian said the newest winder he did was a 2019 so he assumed shock mounting would be the same on newer ones but never had one in too confirm that they were. It would be my luck to get a complete set of shocks and stare at them all summer and then take delivery of the sled and they dont fit lol

I do not know for certain. But what's weird is Exit lists 2017-2020 Sidewinder for the center shock and its not a fit, as its 1/2 short. I believe the shock lengths for say a 2017 - 137" skid are the same as a 2021 137" skid.. Cannondale could probably confirm this, but am about 99.9% sure they are the same.. I cant imagine the 2022 would change

Your probably right, they dont list anything for the front other than 36-38” wide so maybe everything they offer is mtx related.

The length hasn't changed to my knowledge. I have a set of Elka Stage 5's that I first bought for my '14 Viper LTX 137" and put them on my '19 Sidewinder LTX 137". I then upgraded to the newer '20 front end including the new rear rails found on the '20+. My Elka's fit perfectly.
